I saw that they only have two left earlier after researching. I’ll plan on doing this next year and also do the clock spring at the same time since these wear out?

Do they wear out? Mine is still fine. It’s pretty easy to pull the wheel as I’ve done it a few times already. Sewed on a leather cover but I’m not 100% pleased with it so I’m thinking this new wheel will be a better option for me.

I don't thing they necessarily wear out, just crap out. And yeah, pulling the wheel is easy, but those stupid t25s on the side suck to line up.

    Pics for anyone needing them.

No need for a SST, crow foot works fine.

right? you put the bag back on....get in your karma sutra position to get an eye on the T25 and then start tightening, and tightening, oh you're missing the threads. Get it actually lined up and tighten...tighten....tighten...the screw isn't THAT long!
Worse part of it all. I've always been able to keep the wheel nut on a few threads and just jerk the wheel to free it from the column without using any puller.

Maybe I'm asking an obvious question, but what's so dangerous about removing the wheel? I get how dangerous airbags can be. Is the thought that unplugging it could trigger an accidental fire?

I don't think it's an obvious question or a dumb question. I'll be honest: I don't even want to remove mine. Not only because I feel like different cars have a different set of dance steps you need to do in order to not get an airbag in the face but also an airbag SRS light after reassembly.

Curious to see other answers about it. Concerns like this are exactly why I'm not rushing to replace the wheel.

Disconnect negative terminal, wait 10 mins and you’re good to go. No deployment or lights.

yep. I've done a few cars as well as this tundra and you will get no lights after. Just want to system with no charge so disconnect battery. Wait 10 minutes.

    REMOVAL
    1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY
    TERMINAL
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the
    airbag working.
    2. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD
    NOTICE:
If the airbag connector is disconnected with the ignition
switch in the ON or ACC position, DTCs will be recorded.
    (a) Place the front wheels facing straight ahead.
    (b) Remove the steering wheel lower No. 2 cover.
    (c) Remove the steering wheel lower No. 3 cover.
    (d) Using a torx
® socket wrench, loosen the 2 torx® screws.
    HINT:
Loosen each screw until the groove along the screw circumference
is caught on the screw case.
    (e) Pull out the wheel pad from the steering wheel and disconnect
the airbag connectors and horn terminal.
    CAUTION:
When storing the wheel pad, keep the upper surface
    of the pad facing upward.
    Never disassemble the wheel pad.
    NOTICE:
When removing the wheel pad, take care not to pull the airbag
    wire harness.
    3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL
    (a) Remove the steering wheel set nut.
    (b) Put matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft assembly.
    (c) Using SST, remove the wheel. (steering wheel puller)
    SST 09950−50013 (09951−05010, 09952−05010,
    09953−05020, 09954−05021)
    (d) Disconnect the connector.

Same seller has a few varieties too. Looks like they do both a burl wood and the gunmetal looking one, and a mix of straight or curved (I guess "sports"?) leather surround.

Here's the burl in dark grey (it says black?!) with the "sports" leather surround:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/254096498518

And here's the dark grey (also says black?!) with the regular leather surround:

I believe I saw at one point you had wood grain stuff in your truck, just tossing out options in case it's interesting. I personally like the non-sports version. I'd really want to message them to clarify if it's dark grey or black though.

The other not necessarily dangerous, but annoying thing, is if you don't get your wheel back on in exactly the same groove, it'll be off center a tiny bit and will trigger your OCD.
