for sure, but then I am itching for some contrast too, a tan topper would definitely bring out the line of a truck more, compared to black on black may just look more like a suv haha. decision decision.

I've seen the tan on a black tacoma here locally and it does look good. It's almost fde looking tan in my opinion - not too light.

Anyone know if Softopper can be installed with Decked system? Looking at that as an option.

No issues at all with that set up. I used to have that before I switched over to a leer shell

@junior awesome, thanks. How do you like the hard shell vs soft top? I have been torn between the two.

Anyone ever make one of these work with Trail Ed. Bedside boxes?

Edit: Maybe I could add some short sideboards and a secondary set of bed rails to gain the clearance needed for the mechanism. Just need to figure out the tailgate, maybe a single or twin hinged sideboard would work. I would also gain some bonus headroom, nice! Perhaps time to find a used model for sale. If it works out great, if not resale it. What do you guys think?

Can/how do you collapse the topper with the rack on?

I definitely prefer the hard shell, but it comes down to what you're looking to use it for. I just like being able to throw stuff in the bed and have it relatively secure and stay out of the weather. The softtop was great when I had friends ask me to help them move and I could still put tall/big stuff in the bed

Not my post, but I have the same rack. You have to take the topper off the pins and drop it down a bit before folding. It works, but its a lot more annoying and not as quick.

I seen a post somewhere.. could've been the Tacoma forums... where someone cut holes thru the Decked top to allow room for the rack bars to come down thru the top of the deck.

I think i've seen the same post. I don't have a decked system, but I do have a platform on one side of my bed at a similar height. It is annoying to fold up the softopper with both the rack and the platform.

I bet.. I just put my Softopper back on last night and the only frustrating part is getting the pins thru the holes.

Can one open and close or fold the unit while off the truck? Set it on the truck like a regular camper shell with two people? That might work for me. Just set it and fasten it to the rails if possible.

yes, that is possible. With my rack and platform that is typically how I do it. Fully open it up, then slide it into place and attach the clips.

Thanks! Does it attach to front rail at all or only the sides? Trying to see if I can keep my tonneau cover on rolled up and push the soft topper front flap down in the gap between my headache rack and the tonneau cover. My goal is to have multiple cargo options.

There are two rails that are mounted on-top of the bedsides using clamps. those would be in place semi permanently and then the topper attaches to those

I don’t have any photos atm, but I have the Fas-Top Traveler Package that has the collapsible soft topper that stores under the tonneau cover.

I also have the decked system installed and am able to store and open the soft topper with the deck system installed.

Finally almost finished putting together my xtrusion overland rack, I now have a question of logistics of putting it on.
I currently have a soft topper on the truck (without using the sticky seal to the bed side anticipating I am going to have the rack on soon).
What are the best way to have the rack installed on top of the soft topper? Do I need to remove the softtopper completely and re-install the softtopper after the rack is fully on?
Just trying to get some ideas. Thanks!

Yes, softopper will have to be removed completly, including bedrails in order for the xtrusion rack to be installed. The xtrusion overland bed brackets go under the softopper bed rails. So put the rack on, then install the softopper. I needed extra weatherstripping material to get mine completely watertight with the xtrusion overland rack

I don't remember the height, I would have chosen the highest height option. I'll see if I have more pictures. Xtrusion Overland made the cab over part for me. It is an extra 3.5' which brings the rack to the front of the rear doors (DC). I don't have any more photos. I need to take some more of the truck...

This one kind of shows it. The pipe tied on the rack is a DIY solar shower.

Nice. This is good news @BoysandHisToys. I have been searching for someone with this exact combo. Really thinking of getting the Fas-Top Traveler and combining it with the Decked system but I wasn’t sure on the compatibility.

Plenty of clearance between the pivot point of the canopy and the Decked system to allow it swing closed & stow? Also, how do your Fas-Top rails mount to the bed cap - using the Toyota rails (if you have them) or just with clamps? Just curious.

I was going the hardtop route (like Leer) but i still want the flexibility to carry tall things occasionally without having to wrangle a 200lb fiberglass top on & off the truck.

Actually using it right now on way back from TN for weekend trip. I’ll take photos and post pictures this evening.
