Anyone have a cargo rack over the top of their Softtopper? I am wanting to mount a rooftop tent over mine and need ideas. Trying to avoid the custom route but it seems like that may be the best option. Pics please, come on all help me out. TIA

Look up Voodoo racks and Datin fab. Those are the two I have seen that make a rack that specifically fits over a softopper. However, you can’t fold the softopper.

Yeah, I have seen those. I am hoping for round tubing, looks better in my opinion. Maybe Adarac?

It's awesome..I don't have it on all year round. Mostly winter and summer. It's very easy to remove and versatile, I roll up the all the sides for surfboards and fishing gear..also use it to cover up my tools..

I didn’t put Velcro on the tailgate and it does just fine for me. 85 on the highway no problem and I sleep in it when I go fishing. You zip it all the way down and clip the bar at the bottom and it would take a lot to get it loose in my experience.

I realize I didn’t address the scratch the paint question, but my tailgate gets used a lot and has love marks all over it so I don’t look closely but I can’t notice a difference.

Install it in the sun and when it is fairly warm so the fabric stretches a bit.

Install is easy. Watch the install video twice and you won't need the instructions. Most practical thing I have installed on my truck. Love it

did you guys use drill in to the truck for the rivets? Or I’ve seen some one stretch it out and use the bed rails cleats and clamp it down. Also for the tailgate did any of you use the magnet strip or just use the Velcro?

No need to drill into the bed. You can setup magnets or velcro in place if the rivets for the rear, or just leave it hanging. I did. It doesnt flap in the wind or anything, even at 80.

Best thing i ever put in my truck too. Cant say enough good things about softoppers.

I did drill the 3 small holes for the snaps. I haven't used anything on the tailgate, no velcro and no magnet and it functions fine. No scratches that I can see.

Just ordered my softopper! I'm hoping I can install it without the bed rail clamps. I'd like to retain the ability to use a tonneau cover, and switch between the two quickly. Using the tonneau for day to day and the softopper for camping. Has anyone bolted the side rails down? Or attached them using the bed pockets/stakepockets? I'm hoping I can come up with a solution. I'm not opposed to drilling into my bed or the topper.

Well, it only took me 3.5 years but I’ve finally placed my order. Let’s hope it arrives in the 3-5 week timeframe they told me. I’ll post pics once I get it installed.

I received mine last Thursday! Placed the order mid November. Shipping was to Quebec Canada so it might have taken a bit longer for me.

Finally got it installed today. It was a pain due to the cold (-16c) but with a heat gun to warm up the canvas as I stretched it I was able to get it in place.20220112_154350.jpg

Yea, we’ll see. Hoping for the best, but prepping for the worst.
As far as install in the cold… I’ve read that if you place a little buddy heater in the bed and drape the canvas over the frame for 10 minutes or so it should make it a little more manageable. ‍♂️

Installed my Softopper today. Install was straight forward, but the canvas was pretty stiff. Shipping was fast. I got it delivered to my house in 2 days (SOCAL). The rep did say the black color is on back order. FF690878-095E-4BE2-B7EF-92C47148713C.jpg

I have to admit, when I got my black ST 5 years ago, I thought the tan colored ST'ers were not appealing. I've changed. I'm liking them a lot now.
