My wife and I sleep in ours all the time. It is not great if it is really raining hard, but that is uncommon for us around here. My old one on my Tacoma did much better in the rain, so perhaps it is just how I have this one adjusted.

Found one that’s two months old for $500. Think I’m gonna pull the trigger and sell my Extang solid fold.

Got a question though. Do y’all use the Velcro on the tailgate or is there another way to secure the back flap?

I just ordered a new one since I liked my old one. I am selling my old tan one since it doesn't quite look right with my silver paint. I'll be getting one that is for the Tundra specifically (even though my old one - was on a Chevy 6 1/2' bed - fits fine). They say it fits better up against the cab. I really liked the old one, except for the obvious draw back of not being able to lock it. I'm working on a solution to that for the new one even if it only to helps to deter a thief. I live in a cold climate also, so the canvas gets pretty stiff in the cold, so folding out of the way isn't that easy. getting it to stretch enough for the snaps, etc. is a pain. I haul a side-by-side in the back of the truck and tow a fifth wheel occasionally so it makes it convenient to just fold it out of the way. They no longer install magnets in the tailgate part since apparently they were scratching paint, so they went back to using velcro which is not a big deal, as long as you use a heat gun to remove the velcro (if you need to or want to change it). I will be adding more velcro than it comes with this time to keep the dust out as much as possible.

That’s my only issue is putting Velcro on the paint.

I never did use the velcro, didn't bother me to much. But I do love my topper. @Dswenson3423 that's a pretty cool set up with the rack..:spending:

I put the velcro directly on the tailgate, just made sure to use a good sealant on the paint prior to installing. Only issue I had was with the adhesive failing on the velcro and pulling them off when trying to undo the back window. For my front window flap, I put some magnetic door wreath hangers in the sewn pocket you'd pass the aluminum tubing through and it holds nice and tight to the bed in between the cab and bed's bulkhead. No need to drill and install snaps on the inside of the bed.

Do you have photos of this setup (with the wreath hangers)? I haven't installed mine since it is like -10 F outside and the fabric will be too stiff, but i'll be trying to get everything sealed up to keep dust out.

    I think I got my first set at a Christmas Tree Shops location but I did find a set at Lowe's for my father in law to do the same for his F-150. Here's a link to Lowe's;

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/Holiday-Living-Resin-Wreath-Hanger/1003314012

I should note, I like the resin ones as they won't damage the fabric of the topper nor your vehicle. I just bent the tabs in that you'd utilize for hanging something on the magnet.

I'll snag a pic of mine in the sleeve i'm talking about this weekend for you, my topper is in storage in my shed for the winter.

Going to purchase a softopper in a couple weeks but undecided on color. Anyone have a silver truck with the grey fabric? Or silver with any color for reference?

I bought mine on FB Marketplace for $150 and it was originally on a 1st Gen Doublecab Tundra. The big thing is the rails, mine aren't as long as a 2nd gen specific cover, so the front and rear windows are not as flush with the tailgate and bed bulkhead. I also replaced the front and rear windows on mine with ones from Softopper that were specific to the 2nd gens as they're a little bit wider than the 1st gen setup that was on mine when I bought it. Made zipping the rear up and down much smoother. Hope that helps!

Got mine from the FedEx man a couple days ago and put it on today since it was 70 and sunny. Going to use the magnet trick tdawson05 outlines above for the panel at the front of the bed.

Yes. Ordered on 3/24 and on my porch by 3/30. Only issue is that I received an email saying my order was processed for shipping but the tracking number was blank so having it show up was a bit of a surprise.

Here is what I did for my tailgate.

    1. I had a 4” strip of Xpel paint protection film installed across the top of the tailgate.
    2. I bought strip magnets at HD and stuck the Velcro to them.
    3. Stuck the Velcro to the edge of the back flap so the magnets now hold it down and the magnets stay on the flap.

Great idea. Can I install the protective film myself? I'm not familiar with it.

I can’t take credit for the idea as there was another member here who posted about the strip magnets.

I had the film installed by a shop but it only cost me $20 since I had tint done at the same time. Might be worth calling a shop to see what they would charge.

Picked up and installed today. I'm loving the look. I can see a few pin holes in the stitching in the corners. Is this common? Will the seam sealer take care of that? It's a CL find in what looks like great shape.

The pinholes are normal on some of the seams since they sew it. This is the seam sealer they included with mine. I haven’t actually taken the time to crawl into the bed and apply it. So far I have not see any leaks inside my bed but I also am okay if a bit gets in since I am not counting on it being 100% waterproof.
