I'll be interested to hear your feedback on water resistance and wonder if the topper only package would still have a gap behind the cab with the flat tonneau removed?

I am interested to see as well so far so good. I don’t know about the topper stand alone looks like a good option as well. don’t know if it can have a roll cover maybe though? I should have asked

Looks like a soft topper to me. Not being able to use a tonneau cover with it up. Thats why you see in my pictures where i notched the frame on the cover to use both at the same time

There isn't that large gap if you install it without the rolled up tonneau cover. I just sold mine, but when I had it on there was only about 1-1.5 inches from the back of the cab to the front of the softopper frame.

Love mine. Truck would probably look better without but damn is it useful.

Thanks again to this forum for providing a clear path to bankruptcy. RCI Skid Plate, Corsa Exhaust, Toyota Bed Divider, Sprint Booster. I just made the first payment on the truck and Ive already put close to $1500 in mods into it. Madness. Whats another $900 into it at this point.

I'm pretty sold on the Softopper. Anyone have an MGM with the grey topper? #60 is MGM with the black topper and I like the look. Just want to see the grey option.

Would anyone be willing to measure their crewmax softopper for me? I am considering purchasing one, but I want it to be compatible with my utility rack. I would need the following to see if it would fit:

    - Overall Length at base
    - Overall Width at base
    - Overall Height from base to top of tubes
    - Overall Height from base to top of canvas between tubes
    - Spacing between tubes (at top) when assembled
    - Overall Width at top

If someone can help me out, I'd be grateful!

Here are a couple pictures of the rack.

I just picked up a used Softopper that was originally on a 1st Gen Tundra, not as "fitted" as a 2nd/3rd Gen dedicated Softopper but it works great and doesn't have much wind noise as i'd originally expected. Ordered some replacement parts via Softopper and their customer service is FANTASTIC, can't say enough about them!

Edit; I should note, I only paid $150 for the used topper, so quite the steal in itself.

I know this isn’t what you asked, but I’ve considered getting a rack like yours and having a canvas top made for it. It wouldn’t fold up like the Softopper, but I don’t see how that would work with your fixed rack anyways. If you’re near the water you could find a boat upholstery shop to easily handle the job.

I've have a prospective buyer for my ARE MX. I want to go the Softtopper route. The MX is simply too heavy. Nice but I need something easier to deal with.

I'll measure mine for you tomorrow morning. Theres a little play in how it works/how taught you pull it so any measurement might be adjustable within a 1/4" at most.

Sorry I had totally forgot that I said I'd do that @solidsrock. All my measurements are relative to how I have mine set up.

    - Overall Length at base = 68"
    - Overall Width at base = 65.5"
    - Overall Height from base to top of tubes = 20-20.5" (you can tighten down straps to get a little less)
    - Overall Height from base to top of canvas between tubes - Not sure what you meant, same as above?
    - Spacing between tubes (at top) when assembled = 21", 23.5", 21" (From the cab to rear)
    - Overall Width at top = 57"

Thanks a lot @junior! I think that helps. It seems like it might work, but would be a close fit.

On the height between the tubes, it looks like the canvas is a little bit shorter there, I might be able to sneak the tubes in between the crossbars on my rack. I am going to remeasure my rack today to see if I want to risk the $800 to see if it fits. :/ Wish me luck.

Nice looking rig, by the way!

@602runner, I have definitely thought about this option. I wouldn't be able to use the folding capability of the softopper. If I had something custom made, I would want to have somehow snap to the inside of the rack so I can keep functionality. I've also toyed with the idea of making hard sides kind of like the gofast camper, but I would have to figure out a roof, which then completely eliminates the use of my rack.

No problem. There's some give/play in the whole setup and adjustment so I'd bet you can probably get it to how you need

So, I pulled the trigger a couple days ago . I miraculously found one used 4 hours away and was lucky enough for the guy to meet me part-way. It fits perfectly without any trouble. Thanks again, @junior for getting those measurements for me. This just doubled my dry cargo space over the tonneau cover.

Now, does anyone have any issues with water ingression in these corners? Seems to be a pretty big gaping hole. If so, has anyone come up a good solution?

I hear you, that's why I jumped on this one. ~6 hours of drive time saved me about $400 on a new one, if you count shipping costs. Keep an eye out, the 6.5 ft toppers seem to be a bit easier to find.
