I LOVE my DC. But with the first baby on the way and tossing a rear facing baby seat in the cab I definitely see problems. I am 6’2” for reference so it could only fit behind the passenger and the passenger seat has to be way up.

Let’s all be honest - debating about different truck configurations and what’s better to haul plywood or materials is one thing. Debating about which Truck configurations are better for car seats ? The minivans are on aisle 12!

I had a minivan when my kids were little - there is nothing better for hauling kids. I could also haul a full sheet of plywood in the minivan too! I remodeled a full basement hauling stuff from the home center in my minivan!

Hell to the no and the wife wouldn't entertain getting a minivan. We opted for a nice used 2nd gen Sequoia instead.

Based on feedback from everyone here about how one car seat sucks in a DC and two suck more and given that my wife and I would like to have 2 kids in the next ~2 years or so (working on our first now), I went with a CM. If I'd been able to wait to buy until after they were out of their giant car seats, I probably would have gone with a DC. However, between buying a house, our frequent camping trips and a daughter on the way, I knew a compact sedan and a compact coupe weren't going to cut it for us any longer.

I prefer the bed space and look of the DC and, as others have said, the back seat is still spacious and has more room than the competitors' DCs. The full roll down rear window on the CM is really nice but, now that I have a canopy, I won't get to enjoy it so it's kind of a moot point.

That being said, I don't think I'll be left wanting for bed space in my CM. I helped a couple friends clean up the hall after their wedding and, as I only had an open bed at the time, I put as much stuff in the back seat as I could. The only thing that ended up needing to go in the bed and thus get tossed in the garage when I got home at 3 AM was a big piece of plywood. Everything else fit in the back seat while everyone was marveling at its size.

Since then, I've put a canopy on my truck to make sure we'll have space and security for our gear while camping in bear country. The canopy lets me carry loose stuff that's taller than the sides of the bed (like 18 bags of topsoil last weekend) and between the sliding rear window on the cab and sliding front window on the canopy, I should be able to haul long things with less trouble than I had trying to get a downspout from Home Hardware to my house in my 2012 Kia Forte Koup.

Another DC that is not worried about going from CM to DC.
Only thing I miss is the 1794 part of it. Limited is just fine.

I would honestly say with that type of load, you could probably make either a DC or a CM work. It partially depends on how concerned you are about it getting dirty or wet. Can always do a canopy to keep the bed dry and clean but there may be some "delicate" items that you choose to put in the back seat anyway.

Nice! If you can do it in two trips in a civic a CM will haul it in one. Put a cover on the bed if you are worried about lighter items flying out, but I would 100% go crewmax if that is the majority of what you will be hauling. Unless you do a lot of renovations on your house or something, you won't NEED the longer bed often enough, but you will love the space and rear window in a CM.

I have 4 kids(2 are still in boosters) and we 6 fit in the DC(bench seat) fine with room to spare. With the amount of stuff I have to haul when we go camping or biking(6 bikes plus misc stuff), I would have preferred the 8 ft bed but it wasn't available immediately so I went for the 6.5 ft bed.

I debated about a DC long bed when I was looking. If money and reliability were not a consideration I’d get an F250/350 Crewcab and 8’ bed. Hauls people, stuff and trailers!

If I could choose again for free/hadn't done a bunch of mods already... I'd go DC this time around. BUT my friends I drive around on trips definitely tell me to keep the Crewmax :)

It has the full window, or do you mean power for the center part of the window? I've not seen a DC with the full roll down window. :worthless:

Can not have a down window in a DC. The way the back of the cab is shaped would not allow it

I was 99% sure of this. Just pointing out that people confuse what is meant with a "power sliding rear window" between the DC and the CM. Lots of DC owners say "I have that" but don't realize in a CM it is the WHOLE window.

True. I still remember the days when extended cab trucks didnt have power windows in the "half doors" and to buy a truck with that option meant you were a baller

I was in the same dilemma. I was driving a ram megacab and my son bought a new Tundra DC about a year ago. I really like his truck. Kept thinking no way a DC would work & I use the bed so the CM was out. I drove his for a few days & looked at everything & decided it was time. I bought a 2020 DC 2 days ago. With the underseat storage & big console it is fine. Back seat was fine for wife & or son. I really like this truck & was tired of repair bills on the ram. I hope it holds up like my taco. 2006 with 176,000 miles & no major repairs. I could see the DC being a hassle with car seats, but I am through that stage. All my kids are on their own.
