Unfortunately, we did not have a choice with hotels. This was designated by the tournament organizers. It’s a “stay to play” requirement.

You’re gonna love Boston. But the convention center is difficult to get to, and it’s a little bit of a walk from South Station, so an Uber is the best way to go. You could do the silver line, which is the bus but mmerr...

One of my favorite little bars in the city is right next to your hotel. It’s called the Silvertone Bar and grill on Bromfield street. Best Mac and cheese around. And burgers and fries.

If you’ve never gone to Boston, Faneuil Hall is worth a look, just for the history. But the north end is the place where you’re going to get the most authentic Boston. And if you’re into Pizza there’s a place called Locale. Great brick oven

    https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...views-Locale_Boston-Boston_Massachusetts.html

For real authentic Italian food, and away from the tourists, Trattoria Di Monica is the place to go. It’s off of Hanover street(the main drag) in the North End. Not sure how big the family is, but the place is small. But it’s amazing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the place. The Parker house is an institution. It’s situated in a great little spot and it’s a grand little old place. Also, the restaurant (now bar i guess) in the lobby is where Boston cream pie was invented and they still have it on the menu.

It certainly is, great restaurant (oldest in Boston IIRC). Been to Boston 9 or 10 times mostly on business. One thing that always stood out - the people are very friendly and helpful, even if it is obvious that you are from out of town. Very much a walking city, easy to get most places on foot (and the sight seeing is fabulous). Lots of American history all around, the Freedom Trail is golden. I love Boston, would go there again in a flash.

    Have fun!

Thanks for everyone’s input and suggestions. We are a family of 5, so Uber might be difficult. I’m thinking we might get a 7 day transit pass so we can explore the city when not watching my daughter play. We’ll spend some time on foot as well so we can get to know the city.

7 day transit pass is an excellent idea. Public transportation in Boston is quite good as I recall.

You can request larger vehicles with Uber. Even two cars isn't bad. It really is the best way to get around Boston. I haven't gotten in a cab for almost a 5 or 6 years...they are a disaster.

Pubs are aplenty ... but if you want to hit up one of the most currently renowned breweries going then you must go to Trillium Brewing they have a smaller location in the seaport .. their main location is in Canton, MA, but you’ll get their latest tap selections here ...

Someone mentioned Union Oyster House .. if you’re going to do that then best pub right next door would be Bell In Hand (good chowder here or at union) .. I like McGreevys too, but you’re talking much different points of the city so really just depends where you want to be

Donovan's in Faneuil was my go-to when I lived in Boston many years ago. Pretty chill place that is/was mostly townie. Bartenders were always on point and remembered you if the tips were good and you bought them a round every once in a while.
I'd stay away from the touristy crap like the Bull and Finch AKA Cheers. If you saw the show, you won't like the bar. North End has awesome Italian food and sidewalk restaurants that are amazing. Took my girlfriend now wife there when we were first dating. Lobster ravioli and a nice red makes for a pleasant evening. Head to pretty much any of the local bakeries to grab a cannoli for desert, (I recommend Bova's Bakery).
Landsdowne has a ton of bars and clubs if you're into that, and you can see the Green Monstah while you're there.
With the kids, take the T and visit the aquarium for the underground experience, but Ubering is really the easiest way to go. There is also no shortage of museums for a couple hours worth of fun distraction.
The Freedom Trail is also fun for the family if you like to hike and have some time to kill - learn about the country's beginnings and tour Paul Revere's house.
Enjoy your stay! I loved living in the city, and all the attractions were reasonably close by subway - even closer now with Uber.
