I believe you. I’m just trying to figure out this whole insurance game. And I have a feeling I’ll never get there!

It's not so much what I think at all. It's up to the adjuster. The adjuster always judges in the best interest of the insurance company , not the insured , which is not surprising.

When the threshold reaches 75%...you have to upload a V.I.R......"Vehicle Inspection Report " to the Insurance Companies along with photos of the options....dash , console . Interior photos , tires and engine compartment....you actually grade these for the Insurance company as well....from poor to excellent.....than they factor how solid your estimate is ...usually you will disassemble the vehicle and write for a "complete estimate " ....rental days are also factored in

Been in the Auto Body trade for 32 years ...managing a shop for last 6...I do this everday at work....I will push a vehicle over threshold if I deem its not worth fixing...and not GOOD for my customers

Good to know. I have USAA. I was thinking about shopping because they are a little high but maybe I’ll just stay with them.

This was my 2014. They did not total it. Little over 11k in damage. I traded for a new 2017 tundra, a month later.

I was happy with what they gave me. They knew it was wrecked, showed them the insurance claim and everything that was done to it. They gave me $22,500. Plus, I got 6k cash from the insurance company for deminished value.

I would not leave USAA....I actually would put USAA and State Farm even .....In fact USAA is awesome.....I know a couple that had found mold at the baseboards of the floor in their house....USAA took the house down to the floor studs and built them a brand new home from the subfloor up....and put the couple up in a nice hotel until it was finished. USAA will ONLY authorize factory parts on vehicles 2 years or newer. No other Insurance company will do that.....State Farm will only use factory or used parts of like kind and quality....No aftermarket parts allowed

Get what you pay for....and trust me, coming from a family that just went through litigation for almost 600k, better have some good insurance.

    ***hijack on***

When purchasing insurance, get the most coverage you can afford. Trust me on this, a 300/100/300 policy is not enough. I now have 500/300/500 and carry an umbrella policy for over 1 mill. This sort of thing never happens, until one day you get “the call.”

This right here, I carry a 500/750/500 policy. When you look at the extra coverage the costs are next to nothing to upgrade, cost me about $8 more, I honestly do not understand why people carry not enough insurance.
With the costs of automobiles these days one at fault accident can eat up your coverage fast.

Agree that the cost for good coverage is worth it. However it’s not the cost of cars, it’s the litigation from injuries and supposed injuries that drive up the claim values. People should buy Umbrella coverage to protect them in case of litigation.

Man, that sucks. I just went through a similar situation with a drunk driver hitting me. Even though it was all his fault its still a pain in the ass having to deal with all the crap. I mean they paid for everything, but I had to do a lot of stuff dealing with insurance companies and hospitals to new truck shopping.

    All very annoying.

I had my insurance company handle the vehicle side of things. They did the inspection and all that. I didnt trust his insurance to do me right. But there was never any doubt that mine was a total loss.

So I never had an insurance adjuster look at my truck. I got one quote on my own and then took it to the approved Allstate body shop. Guess they trust them to estimate and fix without screwing the insurance company over.

At least hope it is. Mine wasn't, that's why I traded mine, just a couple really small things that I couldn't deal with. Good luck.

Well, both doors had to be replaced, front fender, left front suspension. They also had to repair the door jams. Door jams wasn't perfect, so the doors didn't line up perfect, wasn't bad, but enough to make me sick. Especially since I had only had the truck for about 8 months, I bought it used with 15k miles. They used aftermarket inner fender well plastic, didn't fit correctly, it came loose and was flapping in the wind. Body shop fixed that problem. I kept it right at a month, Everytime I went to drive it, it made me sick. So, I got on line and found the exact truck, same color everything, except I got the bigger gas tank and trailer brake controller. So I let the dealership have my problem. I hope you get yours fixed perfectly, because it's a shitty feeling driving something that you're not happy with.
