So my bed is ripping apart from the frame mount. This is on the drivers side mount by the gas tank fill. It’s gotten bad enough to start pushing up the bed. Just noticed it yesterday. I’m going to take it to the dealer as soon as I have some free time, and really hoping they do something about it. I haven’t heard of anyone having this problem especially on a truck that’s barely 2 years old. BF6A7584-67B3-4F18-9CEE-D0195271E55F.jpg

A little of this and a little of that.
Hope Toyota takes care of that for you. I’m interested to see what they say. Didn’t even know that could happen.

That damage is really odd and unusual. Never heard of this or seen anything similar. Have you had any problems with the truck? Assuming you are the original owner, have you hauled anything different, heavy, or been in any accident?

Craig aren’t you just getting stress cracks? My bed is literally coming off the front drivers mount. The bed is sitting like 1.5” lower in the front corner. It’s jacked

I have no idea if you guys run raised one piece RTT racks, but they do not flex. Our whole rear is like spaghetti, when you put a no flex rack on the bed, damage under like yours can happen. I’ve installed tons of ladder racks, and ones that limited flex beat the snot out of the beds.

I use bed bars. I did have a one piece rack, but ditched that a while back well before this happened

Any chance your “light off road” usage could’ve contributed?

I would say this is from off-road and flexing. As @Vizsla stated, the rear part of the frame is a wet noodle.

If this was my truck, and warranty wouldn't cover my 2016, a custom glass bedside and frame would be built...along with some frame stiffening. My rear TJ frame sprung after a couple trips out due to not having enough cross-members. This fall I'm cutting it out and going full tubular frame front and rear.

Well i just crawled under my truck all is good I tend to beat the shit out of it with fishing and towing the camper but i wouldn't say off road. I would be trading mine in for a new one if it were mine.

That's the plan. If Toyota denies the claim, very next thing I'm doing is calling the shop to get the frame boxed and bed reinforced. Even if Toyota does fix the issue, boxing the frame is next on the list of things to do

You're right. I should trade in a truck with well over $20K in upgrades that I'd eat the cost of because there's an issue with my bed.

As far as I know, and what I'm telling Toyota, my truck has never been off-road. So I'm not sure what you could be talking about.
