I didn't put a deposit because we’ve bought 4 Toyota’s from this dealership and they didn’t require one from me.

I started the list for that dealer and was first back in March 2021.

I live in the Houston area. Not planning on paying over but would like to look at one up close. What dealer? or is it a secret?

Lunar Rock with Cockpit Red interior for $83,199 at Palmer's Toyota Superstore, Mobile, Alabama, if anyone is desperate enough.

Sadly, I bought my 2018 Tacoma Pro from them with a few add-ons for less than MSRP.

That PRO came in and this is the text from one of the salesmen there!

“TRD Pro just sold $20,000 over went for $91,769.00 plus taxes.”

Basically 100k for a toyota half ton. More money than sense I guess.

Reminds me of when the Jeep Gladiator came out. Some people had to have the first few models. I talked to one guy that got the first one in our city. He payed a premium over msrp....and I remember thinking who would pay 60k for a jeep pickup, standard model, nothing special just new and first.

Now people are buying 100k half tons. Good news is these premium buyers will be selling/trading in a year or two when the next shiny object comes along. Lets hope used pricing normalizes some by then and some of can capitalize on their loss.

5 Pros should have hit dealerships in Oakland and Colorado. I wonder what people paid for them? Another 117 are built and waiting to be shipped.

At this point, based on my own experience, I’d say $10k over MSRP-minimum. I question the credibility of anyone that says they’ll get it for less.

Of course, I’d love to be wrong.

All the ones for msrp, and I can count on one hand the making, are usually relationship based transactions.

Johnny Appleseed off the street won’t be getting it at MSRP, that I’m almost certain of.

I found one for 5k over and jumped on it. Being told it should be in late June early July.

Desperate to be the first seen in a wildly overpriced truck. Humans sure are interesting.
Can a peacock really put a price on having what he thinks is the best, hardest to obtain plumage before all the other birds?

Seriously though—looking forward to everyone’s thoughts on the iForce Max.

Congrats! If it’s far away, I’d make sure to get it all in writing so they can’t bait and switch you.

I won’t do it, so I’m willing to wait a few years. I started working from home last month and only drive to the gym throughout the week anyway so my Tacoma should still be at less than 60k by the time I trade it. By then the turbo I4 should be out so hopefully the NA V6 will have a little demand like folks who held on to the 5.7.

Now, if a Pro at MSRP falls into my lap anytime before then, I’ll be happy to open my wallet.

It is in another state and I do worry about the bait and switch, but before giving the non refundable deposit I signed the build sheet with the Temp vin and the price including the MA. For me I was struggling to find a platinum in Houston for MSRP, everything had dealer add on's ranging from 1K to 3K... This has no dealer add on's except the mark up and its a PRO.

Something else to keep in mind, I bought a Gen 2 raptor 802A in 2018 for 64k, by 2020 that same truck had an MSRP for 74.... Assuming Toyota does the same price increase on this truck I should be fine when I go to sale.

I have a lot of expensive hobbies so unfortunately, overpaying on depreciating liabilities can’t be one of them.:(

Caught myself thinking, “hey that seems like a pretty good deal.”

Two years ago I would have swore off any dealer for life who added a markup just because.
Some guys actually seem to make a bit of cash buying vehicles with extremely limited availability as close to MSRP as possible then flipping it after 10k miles. Seems that after all taxes and fees, it’s possible to still net a few grand all said and done. It’s not for me, but if the market is right, you can come out ahead.

It’s like the stock market and for a while the time was right. But now? Lots of uncertainty ahead without a pandemic but with record high inflation, fuel prices, and the potential re…word nobody says out loud.

Can’t forget either that while people were making a killing selling their car, if they needed a new one, that profit went right back to the dealer in that addendum.

Yup, Economics 101. Same with making $15-20/hr min wage. It’s all a wash in the end.

Ordered TRD PRO in October. Paid 73315 including all fees, tax and registration. Got confirmation 3 weeks ago with the V.I.N. And build sheet I pick it up next Monday. Only 16 allocated in Southeast Region in first round of hybrids. Long wait but excited

Congrats on finding the one SET dealer not marking up or adding dealer installed addons! Have you by chance bought lottery tickets?

I’m located in the Florida panhandle and not a single dealer within a couple hundred miles even entertained preordering any Hybrid until last month. The lowest quote I found for the Pro was $10k over.

I have to wonder if this insanity of not being able to find trucks etc and paying all this over is going to come to and end anytime soon

Before the rise in gas prices and inflation I was optimistic. The Configurator on the website for Southeast Toyota (at least my Zip) isn't even allowing Hybrid builds anymore which makes me think they are gonna start the 2023MY to adjust the MSRP for inflation.

At this rate, I'm really gonna find out just how reliable my 2018 Tacoma really is because I am not overpaying. Probably gonna move right into a 4th gen Tacoma.

It definitely won't go on forever. Patience is a virtue...

I'm happy to have sold my rock crawler for 20k more than I would have got 5 years ago. Capitalize on the market as you can and you'll be in a better position when everything comes crashing down. Buy low, sell high

Picked up my 2022 TRD PRO today. I could not be happier with the entire package. Drove 160 miles home in western NC with a 2000’ gain in elevation and got 20.6 mpg. That’s a true at the pump calculation. That’s brand new, no load, almost all interstate driving with cruise set at 65. Can’t wains to get it dirty tomorrow !
