Hey y’all. I have a 2019 Tundra 1794 2WD and I just cannot remember if it has a factory installed stock engine cover under or skid plate (not sure if this is the correct term). I’m also trying to make sure if the service tech forgot to put it back or I really do not have any. I did checked the dealer’s lot but unfortunately they do not have any 1794 on stock. Even my vehicle description doesn’t says any. Cause in my mind I know I have it. Crazy me. If you got time, pics are great too.

Please help me on this. Thanks

    -Pete-

p.s. not sure if this is the correct forum topic. Mods, please move as necessary. Thanks

Doesn't the skid plate only come as part of a TRD package? Sport/Off Road/PRO?

I don't believe 2wd trucks get the front skid plate. My 4wd SR5 non TRD has one but a friend's 2wd SR5 doesn't. You aren't missing much protection, it's really thin sheet metal.

Like I mentioned above, I think it's the TRD package. My 14 is 2WD with the TRD Off Road package and it has the skid plates .

You are probably correct on that. The TRD package adds all the extra skids(engine, transfer case, fuel tank) even on 2wd models. Were in my case on mine and my friend's aren't TRD, only thing I have is the engine skid and nothing else and his has nothing.

Curious, since yours is 2wd and TRD, does it have the front tow hooks like the 4wd trucks have that kinda stick out in the front or the smaller ones I see on most 2wd trucks?

If you have a 2wd = no skid plate
    2wd with TRD off-Road = skid plate
All 4wd models = skid plate.

Now, these are going to be the cheap black sheet metal skid that makes oil changes a challenge.

Only the TRD Pros are going to have the thicker silver skid plate that is actually a true skid plate.

If you mean the ones that are down below the front license plate, no it doesn't have those.

My 2012 is an SR5 Texas edition 2wd and has the engine skid..
I believe your window sticker should tell you wether or not you have the engine skid. Run the vin through Toyota’s website. Should tell you there also.

You’re correct about the TRD skid plate.

Highly appreciate all your inputs. I was looking like this one. A thin black sheet of metal that covers the under engine. Like a splash guard from getting the engine dirty..

Yes you should have a splash guard like you showed. My 4x4 1794 has one and I don’t have the TRD OR with engine skid plate. I see no reason a 2WD wouldn’t have the same.

As mentioned above, the engine skid plate is only going to come on 4wd or if you have the TRD off road package. Even the cheap sheet metal skid does not come on 2wd.

Hi! I have a 2014 1794 Tundra and it did not come with a skid plate. It came with just a skid plate trim, which is completely non-functional. A buddy of mine has a 2013 Platinum and he too did not have a skid plate. I went on Amazon and ordered a TRD skid plate, completely worth it. With the TRD skid plate, you don't have to take it off to change the filter when doing an oil change.

@kentran5397 thank you for your input.

Just to update. I sent an email to Toyota and they replied

“...found that the engine cover/splash shield is not listed as a published specification. We consulted with our product specialists who have advised that your 2019 Tundra should have some type of engine cover under the vehicle. Please see your servicing dealer for further confirmation.”

I have not talked with them yet.
