It seems like Xpel dominates the market for PPF. Does anyone prefer or recommend 3m over Xpel?

Xpel is the gold standard for PPF. They have it figured out.

My entire truck was done with Xpel. Also had it debadged. The shop did an excellent job.

I got XPEL on my entire truck. There is no area without PPF, including the roof :D.

Tight. Sounds like there's consensus. @ramnj did you have the fender flares wrapped too? The texture of the pro fenders didn't give them trouble?

Those are the only parts that didn’t get PPFd. The camouflage was sanded off and painted.

Do you mind sharing how much they charged for the whole pickup? Would love to do this and go to the Matte Finish. hoping it would also help with the idaho pin striping....

It was just over $2,600 and change.

Cost is going to depend on where you're located and the thickness of the film. I went with the 8 mil and the cost was 7k. They also have a 10 mil and the cost is higher and more difficult to install. Hope this helps.

Appreciate the response. I'm assuming the 10 mil would be better for overloading just because it is thicker and more able to withstand the pin striping.... Am I following this correctly?

Had it done on my ‘18 just after delivery. I had the entire front end done plus the mirrors, inside of door handles (no fingernail scratches,) and the door edges.
    It cost $1900.
I agree that the installer is much more important than the brand of film. I learned my lesson the hard way when buying a Lexus SUV and had the dealer do it or rather they had a crap installer do it. After having them fix it three times in six months, the dealer refunded the cost and I took it to a good installer.
In the last seven years, not a scratch or rock chip on the entire front.

Xpel has a video of a GT3 they did with 10 mil racing through the desert and at the end they show the vehicle washed. It had some pin strips that eventually healed.

I've done some overlanding and so far the film has healed. I'm glad I did the PPF and definitely recommend it.

Awesome good to know. I've been you tubing how to install it myself and it looks like I can buy the Expel matte. I don't think it is the 10 mil though. I might give it a try myself and see how it goes.

My last trucks I had it thrown in for the deal. Front end of the truck, under door handles, and the ignition.

I don’t recall what I paid for the Tesla PPF, but I had the entire hood, front bumper, pillards, and the bottom half of all doors done.
