Just curious if anyone else here from So Cal doing spring turkey and where (generally, not looking for your hot spot...ha ha).

Maybe even we can meet up during opener, maybe even share camp sites

go get your hunter safety certificate. i won't go in the field with someone until they have that. i'm former military and i won't take my marine buddies out without it. it's easy, cheap and once you have the certificate, it's good for life. it also shows that you're serious about trying to hunt.

FWIW, I went out on Saturday to my neighbors hunting club. filled my freezer with 9 pheasant and 5 chukars (like small cornish game hens). my freezer is now pretty full of meat

I applied for turkey tags in Utah as an out of state resident but didn’t win the lotto.

I got calls for Xmas from my girl too. I’ll try Utah again for an over the counter tag or maybe Cali but as an out of state resident Cali is pricey

out of state anywhere is expensive! i'll be doing either an OTC archery elk in CO this Sept (no guide), or an OTC archery deer tag in AZ next January. both are gonna hurt. so wife has said i need to pick one, can't do both. AZ has higher percentage chance of getting one. but CO would be a shit ton of meat if i got an elk...plus...it would be a bull elk!

Spring turkey here in New Mexico starts wednesday...I've never hunted turkeys before but I need to take a break from work and get the hell out of here for awhile. So this will be a learning experience for me...
