…and immediately flash back to this other memorable beaning ??

I mean great story of sportsmanship if you haven’t seen it - and good to see we have grown as a society in the couple of decades.

It’s funny how long kids ACTUALLY hold on to their innocence. If that happens even a year on in their lives, it’s grudge time. It was awesome to see though. Always something heartwarming happening involving the LLWS.

Exactly - kids are innocent - at least until around 12-13.

    Problem is typically the parents.

I can well remember a few years back. - large offshore bookmaker began offering betting on Jr High football games - I mean I understand certain High Schools in Florida basically are On par with small colleges on the quality of their roster and their facilities - but this is JUNIOR High (7th and 8th grade).

I remember asking my friend there what in the hell he was thinking - posting up lines on a bunch of 13 year old kids playing organized football - the response - I only do it because there is sufficient demand from the parents wanting to bet the games. Anything for a buck - got me questioning who in the hell is betting their kids games and how much of a dead beat one really has to be to place such a wager.

Same guy dealt the entire LLWS too from memory - I mean a few shops would do the finals - but they did EVERY game last time I looked.

You wonder how some athletes get this way - then you meet the parent who is driving a new Lexus from the dealership whose owner is a proud alumni of the high school they transferred to their sophomore year and you get it.

It is never too late to lose the harshness that seems to be a part of adulthood.

Especially when you are setting an example.

Seeing those kids is a reminder that it is ok to be nice.

Had to go look it up. Hats off to both players; the pitcher for feeling genuinely guilty and the batter for forgiving him. True sportsmanship and two fine young men, neither of which we see enough is today's world.

That is pure insanity. Just a recipe for a bleacher fight. I typed up my little response after going to my boy’s soccer practice(with a new club) yesterday and seeing a kid there acting like a brat during a WARMUP. They play 3v3 on a tiny portion of field to get themselves warmed up and he would pick up a ball and punt it every time someone on his team made a mistake or every time they’d ship a goal. It was pathetic to see. My son made a fool out of him a couple of times and he lashed out at him by kneeing him in his no-no square. Thankfully mine is an animal and knew right away that little shit wasn’t worth his time. My son let him know towards the end of the practice that yelling at his teammates will probably just make things worse. In typical brat fashion that kid said, “You’re not my dad. You can’t tell me what to do!” Thankfully the coach hemmed his ass up after practice and hopefully let him know how stupid he was acting. The kicker is that his mama was there the entire time just watching him act like that. Unconvincingly saying things like, “XXX, you need to shelve that attitude.” Like she was scared of him or some shit. IDK, man. Maybe I was raised different. If that was my kid we’d have been out of there for a multitude of reasons. Parents these days suck.
