I've only had my Tundra about a month and have been messing around and one thing I've notice is driving with Tow Haul mode makes the throttle much more responsive. Also since tow haul mode makes the tranny hold gears it should in theory create less heat and wear. Any adverse effects of using tow haul? It doesn't seem to causes the tranny to use engine braking like Ford's tow haul modes that I've experienced. I've also seen uhauls that automatically engage tow haul on every start up in Chevys so I'm guessing they do this to make the tranny last longer. Just curious on others experience.

I do it all the time when in cruise control and climbing hills.

Yeah noticed today using it with cruise when going up an incline it accelerates much smoother rather than down shifting and reving higher.

I use tow/haul mode when I’m feeling frisky. If I feel particularly rambunctious, I’ll also turn off all of the electronic nannies. Puts a smile on my face every time.

Yeah that's called "Beast Mode" very fun, but hits your wallet at the pump.
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/trac-control-off-tow-haul-beast-mode-confirmed.8116/
When I am at a Stop sign that I know I need some extra power to get into traffic, I will enable "Tow Haul" though I usually don't run with it full time. I have read some do, even full nanny shut off full time. They have the ritual down as soon as they start the truck.

I beleive our trucks have "Engine" braking on all the time, not just in "Tow Haul" or at least both of my Tundras have. I had an '07, and now a '14 and if I tap the brakes it engages what seems like an engine brake. The RPMs jump, and the truck starts to slow. Holds 35 MPH on some hills.

If it would hurt anything, I’m sure there would be some sort of warning in the owner’s manual. As far as I know, there is no such warning.

I was hoping there was a way to have tow haul auto enable like the uhauls I drove did, looked in TechStream didn't see anything.

Yeah I've noticed that, I meant how on the E350 I drive for work if tow haul is on any time you let off the throttle the tranny stays in gear and causes engine braking just like a manual trans. That would be annoying if using tow haul all the time.

I wonder since it is just a toggle, if you could just jumper it. I haven't tried it in my '14, but I think the '07 had a switch that once pressed, it stayed engaged. They may have changed that.

Man it's been so long since I had to drive a Ford. I had to drive an E150 for my job about 20 years ago, those tranny's on the E150's were garbage, I think I went through 2-3 in the 3 years I was there. I hope the new E350 is a little better.

Mine at work is a 2013 with the V10, the tranny isn't too bad, it slams into gear once in awhile but it's actually my favorite to drive since the rest now are all Transits and the hideous Dodge vans

Every time I see those Ford Transits, all I can think about is the MIB movie with the bug truck.

Yeah all the new vans now are very ugly, the Transits are not as bad as the dodges though. The Transits are very cramped in the cabin area compared to the old e350s. Only Chevy still makes a decent work van with a v8 but I believe this is their last year before going to a similar design as the transit.

It must just apply it when it knows it needs it then, since Ive been in tow haul and let off and the RPMs will go down to 1000 where as some tow hauls will locked the tranny all the time after letting off the throttle.

Yes...it essentially automatically hits the 2 button press, release, then press and hold to turn off all 'nannies' every time you start the truck. Simply hit the traction control button to go back to normal.

Tow/haul and peddle commander to be used together at your discretion :burnrubber:

Is there any advantage to using T/H driving around town without a trailer?

Or at least some type of aftermarket button you can replace the existing "Tow/Haul" button with that says "Haul Ass"

Is there an advantage to having our sensitive manly parts hang outside of our body? No (actually yes). But thats the way God intended (actually evolution). Just like God intended us to go fast. If you aint first....well, then youre second, or third, or even fourth, but at least you went fast.

Now press that Tow Haul-Ass button and add a few more smiles per gallon to your day.

Well that was fun... Big smile with some giggling.
I love the automatic downshift engine braking, it's much more aggressive than without TH engaged.

Heard GOOD things about the pedal commander- but also heard same throttle response as “haul- Ass” button in question here ???

Fun fact that I just realized and I guess makes sense. Blind spot monitoring does not work with tow haul mode on...

    Update:
    Disregard it does still work.

:mudding:I drive with it on all the time. And turn off nannies too. Even for short trips to the store. Much more fun driving with tow haul on especially with my 4.6 liter. Also makes it more “worth” the gas. Have fun.
