    Thanks, that's my goal! Clean and simple.

    I am designing a drop in LED panel for both upper and lower Sections of the light. They will utilize COB strips like my new Tacoma panels. I am thinking a strip behind every "diffuser" in the factory red lens. I'm counting 6 in the upper, and 8 in the lower. 14 COB strips total PER SIDE. might be a tad TOO bright....?:eek:

    Here is the led they are using;

    ^ not sure yet. Still in design phase.
    Then R&D. A safety device should not be rushed IMO. My taco tails are going to be about $699.. I anticipate the Tundras to be the same.

    Interested!! I've been shopping for some replacements for quite some time. I was always hooked on the anzos for that raptor light bar, but as you said too much chrome. I don't think it'll be too bright, my wife's 2015 mustang has some bright ass brake lights so Id be ok with it. :cool:

    You only looking at doing 3rd Gen?
    Price may be a little high Recon and Winjet and others about 2 bills cheaper

    As of now, yes.

    Regarding the price...
    You can't compare these to Chinese lamps...
    1) I will be using OEM housings
    2)All functions will be MUCH brighter (BRAKE, TURN, AND REVERSE)
    3)These are handcrafted, 1 at a time
    4)Aftermarkets look like they came from Ebay, fleamarket, or both.
    5)My turn signal will be a dedicated AMBER bulb! Not using the brake lights as turn(a petpeive of mine) those winjet Turns are WEAK.

    You are free to purchase what you want..I won't stop you. But all my lights have a ton of r&d, design, and both FORM AND FUNCTION.

    BTW my Tacoma Custom COB boards are done... this is what I'm talking about:

    ^ I hear ya on that one. This is definitely not a mod for your average tuner. I consider it "art" and I have a fun time designing, and crafting them.

    Agreed on every 1 of your points. I for 1 can't stand the look of my pro oem tails. I think it is the only other thing besides stock tires that takes away from the truck. They're horrible. They do the truck an injustice. Same as I did with the stock shoes I'd change immediately the rear tails. This would be a huge upgrade in both form (looks&function). I'd trade in my oem tails tom if u were ready. I'd love an exchange program on the oem and almost wouldn't care about price. You can't compare these to those cheap Chinese knockoffs, quality or price. Even anzos, spiders and winjets can't. The only reason I haven't replaced yet is bc imo the options suck. I don't want a tail everyone else got and I'd pay more to achieve that. I like the blacked out look but worry about safety so these would be perfect. Stock housing retro painted matte black inside to get the blacked out look while still keeping safe, bright, and highly functional; u are onto something here my friend. I'm down, let's do it, take my money. I might even lie,cheat, and steal to make this happen. Little Eddie Guerrero reference lol. I've been waiting for something like this since day 1 when I got the truck. I'd even drive around without tails if I had to, to make this happen. Patience is not my thing, although I must admit I've done very well for myself on the taillight dilemma. I've been resisting the urge to settle and just get mine blacked out the less safe way just for looks. I'm waiting for yours just please don't keep me waiting too much longer, I don't trust my lack of patience. I've got to do something in the near future, I feel like someone kicks me in the dick everyday I stare at these ugly ass mother f's. I'd even be willing to put my retro head n fogs projects on hold for awhile to get these damn tails subd out. Im done ranting, needless to say I'm in. You got a ballpark on when they would be available for purchase?

    Had to dust off the cobwebs on my Tundra tester.
    Started looking at it and noticed the Reflectors stuck out too much for my taste. Didn't go with the BTLM at all.
    so...fix the problem;

    NOW>>>
    >>>If these are really going to be THE ULTIMATE tail lights, performance should be so accordingly.
    So I have decided there will have be an LED strip behind EVERY factory optics line. (Optics= Diffuser= those little bumpy lines in the red plastic)
    7 on top, 5 on bottom.

    WOW. When properly spaced ~.5" away from the lens..these things get crazy intense. Light is diffused perfectly and creates a solid "PLAMSA BEAM"
    (picture showing only ONE 2" test section in the middle)
    [IMG]

    Not sure yet If I want to run amber strips(turn signal) in there as well. alternating with red every line. I think I will have more than enough turn signal output from the reverse bucket switchback. Hmmm

    Man these things are looking good! So not sure if this helps for your amber strips vs switchback dilemma but since the diffuser is red couldn't you just use the same strips as the brake light? Maybe wire top for turn and bottom for brake? Or alternate? At first I was thinking like you use the switchback and that would be enough amber for turn signal and maybe an upgrade in reverse light output for some people. The downfall to this is going to be price. Sure you can find a kit on Amazon for maybe 20 bucks with some 6 ohm resistors but you won't get the light output from say the V3 Triton. That would set you back another $200 bucks though for the bulbs and their plug and play resistors. Then you would have to figure out how to get them to work. May be easy with a schematic but I don't have one in front of me. If this option would work a happy medium price wise and light output would be the GTR lighting switchbacks....However I would HIGHLY recommend ordering a spare set because these bulbs in my experience fail at a high rate for their price. Sure GTR will warranty them but your are going to turn signal less for a couple days. Also my diffuser line count is 6 and 8 not the 5 and 7.
