Was contemplating using this to aide in oil changes but not sure if there any downfalls? Anyone have past experience ?

I have not. But I've got to believe that a Fumoto valve makes an engine oil change at least as "easy" as that^^^. And in my book even easier. I'm only talking about the engine oil pan oil. There's always the cartridge oil filter and it's inherent mess.

Not sure a cock pump would be good for oil changes. At least not the ones on your truck.

I used to use one on a previous car years ago. They would actually pull more oil than by draining. Lot less mess too. No downfalls that I know of. Just make sure the oil is warm. Not hot or cold.

I have that pump for my boat, but I also use it to suck the oil out of the Tundra through the Fumoto valve. Works like a charm.

I have the Mityvac version, same thing, going on 7 years. It is great for changing fluids on cars, especially lexus with all the under carriage cladding. I could pull out all the oil, remove one screw from skid plastic, swap filter and put back together with no mess. Some vehicles prevent the tube from making it to the fluid pan though. I have not tried it on the Tundra yet as I am still using the freebie changes. I still use it to pull out transmission fluid in the pan, motor oil, pwrstr fluid on other vehicles we have. The plastic top is starting to warp a little on top which reduces the seal when removing fluid from the container (pressurizes container to push fluid out, causes extra pumping) but it doesnt affect the vacuum extraction from the vehicle. It can take 20 mins to extract fluid depending on size tubing you use, but you dont need to attend it the entire time.
