If you are planning to lower the bed of your truck by hanging the leaf packs under the axle, I highly recommend that you also install this Firestone ride-rite kit that SOS Performance sells.

I have read people have removed the overload spring which would drop the rear at leAst 1/2”. They also said the springs soon deformed and axle wrap became an issue.
I am still thinking of doing this but adding airbags to help the springs survive.
    Thoughts?

I think axle wrap remains a concern if you leave the leaf pack on top of the axle.

I like your setup, but its fairly expensive here in Canada. My truck also sees some mild offroad where dragging the middle of the frame can be an issue so im concerned avout a 3” drop.

There’s a guy... Ramone I think... Low and Slow Customs... off of Route 66 in Radiator Springs that sells and installs extreme lowering kits. The road around there is SMOOTH to test the kits out. Some famous racing team is headquartered there as well... can’t remember the guy’s name tho.

I was wondering the same thing. I would love to level the truck via lowering the back end so I can actually reach things in the bed like my old Chevy from the mid 90s.

This SOS kit doesn’t say anything about it changing but then why would they?

I am re-investigating the possibility of lowering the front of my RWD, but I don't know if it will have a negative effect on the ride or the turning radius.

Who has lowered the front? 1", 2" or 2.5"? What has your experience been?

Also, does lowering the front reduce ground clearance?
Lowering the rear did not reduce ground clearance.

I thought hard on lowering my truck, because I have a Jeep that I wheel, so I wouldn't be off-roading in my truck and I live on a mountain and it would make the truck more fun on my commute up and down the mountain everyday.

At the end of the day, if I were out exploring with my truck, I would like to be able to hit some service roads or fire roads without worrying about ground clearance, so I decided against it.

I would like to lower mine to make it easier to load and to scrape snow off but I want to retain the rake for when we get a travel trailer.

Yeah, I think I'm going to research this TRD lowering kit and add it to the list of expensive mods I need to justify doing.

The full kit from SOS Performance for the rear is top notch, and I am now looking at their kit for the front.

I think i am sold on the SOS Performance lowering kit with the air bags so I can tow my 30'Travel trailer. I was going to lift the front (leveling kit) but i would rather lower the rear. I'm short only 5'6" and getting older so that means i am getting even shorter. Glad i ran across this thread. love this forum, a lot of great ideas.

I have a question, did you change your rear shocks? do you have the sport suspension? According to the SOS Performance specs for this particular lowering kit, you don't have to change the rear shocks. Just wondering if you changed your shocks?

I tried the factory shocks, and quickly replaced them with shorter

It felt like I was bottoming out on the standard length shocks... the ride with the shorter shocks is great - definitely run the shorter shocks.

I've had lowered trucks my entire life. I usually do 2"-4" lowering kits and the truck improves a lot in the handling and cornering characteristics.

I usually don't load very heavy stuff in the bed of the truck, so adding airbags for me is not an option. I've been aware of the SOS kits for quite a while and the fact that they even work with 4WD trucks for me is mind blowing.

No other kits from other well respected lowering kit manufacturer like the Bell-Tech kinds have that. Kudos for SOS having these very cool kits for the Tundras.
Now I'm very inclined and seriously considering the rear lowering kit to level the truck.

I'm interested in doing this to my truck. What can I expect to be charged for doing the work? Is this something I would ask my local mechanic to do, Or would I need to find a specialty place. Also, is there any loss in towing capacities? I tow a dump trailer regularly.

Man, I'm building out, mild build, my 2wd CM for RDL Designs camper shell and light trailer towing focusing on handling and dependability and not off road ability past forest/rough roads.

Looking at lowering and beefing up the rear.
Your info has been da bomb

Got TRD rear sway on the way and SOS rear lowering kit/SOS air bags (didn't see Firestone on their site) in my cart

Was also considering a rear helper spring. Any thoughts on that, overkill, SOS U bolts long enough for the extra leaf?

Are the F150 rear shocks still working for you?

    Again, appreciate the help

Ever figure out the answer to the helper springs? I'm debating on either the 1/3.25" drop or the 2/4" with airbags. But I'll also be towing a jeep to offroad on the weekends and don't want to be stressing the rear too much
