Just curious as to what is negative about the auto parking break? Not trying to minimize or say your frustration is not valid, I am just genuinely curious. It only engages when the truck is turned off. It disengages when the truck is turned on. If I didn't know it was there I would never notice it.

I live in that area and not setting the E brake on my 2012 Tundra resulted in a corroded E brake mechanism. Now if the E brake is engaged, it will not fully release and drags. The electronic E brake is a plus for me. Mine DC TRD should be delivered in the next few days. Also, in talking with the salesman today, I learned that you have to remember to disengage the automatic E brake before you do a DIY brake pad replacement. Otherwise, you won't be able to compress the caliper pistons.

Where's Captain Obvious? The Ford recall involves new E brake technology being discussed here. Ford's is programmed too. Is it the same methodology? Not sure. Comments were made about how great E brake is over the old school cable brake system. That was what my point was. There is zero history on how well E brakes will perform over time. Ford suck anyways. E brakes will be the norm soon enough. Would be nice to be able to override it if so desired.

Electric ebrakes are the norm already.

This is my thought as well. Not trying to pick a fight with anybody but I like the fact that the parking brake is on if the truck is off

It's interesting to see the varying opinions on the topic but it seems to me that there are two completely different "complaints" about the electronic parking brake system.
    1. Being the automated engaging and disengaging when shifted into P.
    2. Being the safety feature when it engages automatically like when you try to move the vehicle with the door open or when it engages because of the backup sensors pre-collision stuff.
I personally do NOT like the first and have chosen to de-activate it. Whereas I don't mind the second part because of the safety aspect.

I guess sum seeing it from multiple angles because I'm with you on your thoughts too. I guess the only thing I'm really okay with is the pre-collision stuff because of the safety aspect. I too work out on the land sometimes and it is definitely a bigger pain when you can't just glide thru a gate or back right up to a trailer with the door open. However the engagement shifting in and out of park sometimes is annoying because of the same scenario I just mentioned...hunting public land or working on the farm with multiple gate crossings throughout the day, that brake just cycles on and off numerous times a day and I feel like it's just asking to malfunction because of usage...wear and tear...whatever you want to call it.

I guess we can't have it all can we lol

I hate the auto parking brake feature with the door open as well. I will say my Ram did the same thing though and I'm sure the rest of them do it as well due to enough idiots getting run over when they leave their truck in gear when they get out of the truck

I have no problem with these sort of safety features if the option was to opt in rather than opt out. There are so many super annoying features introduced into the Tundra over the past couple of years that are forced onto you unless you spend hours trying to figure out how to bypass disable or turn them off. The e-brake discussion is just one of many. I hate that the truck shuts off when it is sitting at idle for a short period of time and that it then cycles to keep the AC active. Yes, there is a button to turn this feature off, but every time the truck is turned off the feature resets itself rather than being turned off permanently. The dashboard in my truck is typically full of orange warning lights to show what has been turned off. This is also annoying since I am used to these sorts of light indicating there is a problem of some sort. It's all very distracting and at least in my case is probably more likely to result in an accident than prevent one.

OK so you buy a new truck, a new gen truck at that and you hate it because of all the new tech??? Not sure what you were expecting but there is a very simple fix, sell it, buy something much older and enjoy!

My wifes Lexus is a 2017 and has the e-brake when in park. Zero issues 6 years later in a Canadian climate.

I think we will all be OK .....but any pics on a truck with the OP's wife would be entertaining
