I hunt upland, never gone out for waterfowl. I use a Remington 870 that I also have a scoped slug barrel for deer. No rifles allowed in MA for deer hunting. I also have a 1939 Browning sweet 16, but it can be heavy after a full day in the field. And yes, that Jack Russell flushes Birds DD598355-73D4-4EDD-870D-6A360737F7C2.jpg

Louisiana teal opened yesterday but I don't hunt without my dog and reptiles are still active this time of year. Prepped the camp for Sally instead.

Dove is open here. But so is archery deer. Pheasant opens 10/24/20. Listening to a few pheasants as I am waiting on deer currently. 1600046146087507270510160232520.jpg

Don't get me started. No dove season in New England. They're everywhere, but no season to hunt them.

It's a bummer. I've always used dove for a pre-season warmup for the dog. He loves them.

This is in Washington. Yes, a couple of those are pigeons. The farmer wanted those gone also and the dog doesn't care so long as he gets to retrieve it.

Thanks, me too! It’s a JP Sauer & Sohn, 16 gauge. I had the chokes cut to IC/Mod and then refinished the stock after a crack repair.

I have an old Stevens S x S double trigger 16ga I shoot on smaller/preserve birds. Really light gun at 6.5 pounds. IC/MOD as best I can tell, Stevens did not mark barrels. I inherited it along with a JP Sauer & Sohn semi-auto pistol.

Just confirmed my hunting for South Dakota pheasant for the entire week of opener. So pretty excited to do that. 28th year of hunting in South Dakota. Get to try out the new dog. Pictures of safe and successful hunting to follow.
