I used the same product but the marine version called CRC heavy duty corrosion inhibitor on the frame/underbody surfaces and some suspension areas. It's a cosmoline product that's designed to hold up to salt spray and stay where it's applied.
It will creep a little if hosed on the welds and seams. 3 cans later the truck and I were waterproof. Wear PPE rated for the job.

The 3M cavity wax spray can and extension kit works well and easy to apply for the inner frame rocker panel/door areas.
    https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/collision-repair-us/featured-products/cavity-wax-plus/

Fluid film is a decent sacrificial coating if you can get over the stink and don't mind hosing it on every year in wet and salty climates but the cosmoline kills it in performance for exposed areas and half the work as grease.

PB Blaster Surface shield is worth look and has good reviews as well.

Well from the looks of things you covered it well. Interested to see how the product holds up to your nasty winters.

Going to try the PB Blaster, first time applying any protective coating. What should I do or be careful of I know stay away from the exhaust?

    Good plan.
Salt away works well for winter salt rinse downs. We use it on our boat, trailer, motors, rods, etc. after running in the salt with good results

No it doesn’t dry. We are about to start applying it to our fleet but most look like they could skip this year except the area around the wheel wells. With COVID we haven’t added many miles.

I'm taking my rust free '07 into salted road territory at the end of the month.

I think I'll try the bar and chain oil in a spray gun technique.

To be honest it’s more work than I thought doing a thorough job but feel it’s worth the effort. ..I really like the product.
I think they haven’t promoted it well and don’t have many dealers is why it’s not that well known. Here in Canada…the Canadian Tire store is a dealer witch is a bit of a joke.

Was it worth it to buy their premium application gun with all the extensions or have you found a better way to apply?

No unfortunately I haven’t seen any. I bought x6 5 gallon pails so far and no discount.
Think you might possibly get a discount if you become a dealer

Krown for me on 15 taco and 19 tundra got it sprayed right after I bought them new. Michigan winters neither one 0 rust not even on my six year old Taco not even the welds! With Krown is vital on a good tech spraying it.

I think your right ..WD40 is a pretty thin coat it’s not going to do much for long.

WD40 works very well. I’ve been using it for years on my 2000 Tundra.
    I apply it twice/year.
I learned about it from the following thread when I had a 2002 4Runner. Hard to argue with the results.

just read a few pages of that linked thread — certainly not what I would have expected

you may have just saved me $475.00

I’ll still try and do a little more reading about wd40 as undercoating
I will hold of on the corrosion free purchase at the moment

What you want is a gallon jug of WD40 and one of these. It allows you to get in tight places, apply a good amount of product, and switch between “stream” (for when you need accuracy & reach), and wide/mist for covering a wide area. I salvaged mine from a can of insecticide I had in the garage. But you can buy them separately.

I use an aerosol spray can with the long metal spout to get in the rocker, inside the doors, and in the rear of the cab.

The 4L jug and standard gun from CorrosionFree is $95CAD, shipped. During checkout, I was able to add a couple spray bottles of the nut/thread/protector for $5.99.

a 4L jug of WD is $40, corrosionfree is $60

I went through less than 1/2 my jug for my Crewmax.

How much are people saving in the end, by buying WD40, a product not designed for rust proofing and may have to apply multiple applications a year?

Why do nuts and threads need to be protected? Is this a rubberized coating?

To prevent rust and seizing up.

Not rubberized. Basically the same consistency as the CorrosionFree undercoating.

    https://corrosionfree.com/store/nut-z-lube-corrosion-fighting-lubricant-2-pack/

I sprayed hinges and door latches etc. Places I couldn't get with the cheapo spray gun and didn't want overspray.
