If that’s a rubberized undercoating, I would highly recommend against using it.

My dad always told me if I dont know enough about something then dont give opinions on it, I wish your dad did the same! Rubberized undercoating is the worst thing for your car!

Amsoil HD Metal Protector. Inexpensive and easy to apply. It's a cosmoline wax so it holds up the entire winter. Looks good once applied also. So far, very happy with it.

Never seen a Duck with a rusty under carriage yet ....but surly wouldn’t recommend a rubberized product you’ll end up with a unhappy rubber ducky ...holding any salt and moisture in isn’t a good thing.

But on the other hand corrosion free is a great option. No smell at all.

Just delivered today....this stuff really works and ..will not affect any of the rubber or electrical components. Also doesn’t drip like crown or Rust check.
This is the first year for us to do our own fleet.
Will see soon how well that goes for us!!

I think something like this would work great

    upload_2020-10-21_16-45-50.jpg
    TS-115 Corrosion Control Grease
    [10-115-101]

    16oz ctg
    Application

TS-115 is a multi-purpose, bearing and machinery grease for use where salt water, salt air or atmospheric chemicals are present. Plants such as fertilizer, desalinization, petroleum, chemical, caustic, soda, potash plants, and sewage treatment could all use TS-115. In addition, TS-115 also may be used in underwater conditions or as an assembly lube where elastomer compatability is important.

    Benefits

TS-115 has proven effective to protect equipment from rust and corrosion. It has a high melting point, over 500°F, outstanding mechanical stability, and excellent resistance to water washout. It may also be used as a protective coating for exposed metal to prevent rustin

Jeez! What does it look like when driven down a dusty country road for miles with all the oil/grease coating/packed everywhere? Won't that cause some grit to stick and grind away at joints/movement points? I guess its better than the alternative....

Go back and see post #13 for the picture I posted. First few weeks some dirty will stick as the grease is shiney/gooey. After a month or so the grease on frame starts to turn doughy. This past year since doing it, the frame has maintained a matte finish with a doughy surface layer. Using MolyB Grease. Not sure how other greases will perform.

Another potential alternative is Gentoo™ Quart Kit (Part A and B) Hydrophobic Coating. Not specifically designed for vehicle undercarriages but works very well on other metal surfaces exposed to harsh conditions. Some what expensive but a single application has water and salt shedding properties that allow this system to be ideal for corrosion resistance according to product specifications. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has experience or better knowledge of this product.

I'd guess it would work but oof, the smell. Remember gear oil back in the day with whale oil additives? Stinky!

What's the best method for clenaing one's frame prior to applying any of these cocktails? Also, I'm beginning to lean towards the AMSOIL MP HD. How many cans to do the job?

the 02 tacoma had 3m cavity wax put in the frame rails when it was new. When i use a bore scope inside the frame, 18 years later, theres no rust to speak of inside.

now the outside? i need to address that. its getting ugly. (not rot.. just ugly)

U really dont need to clean your frame at all unless if it has road salt residue still on it or if there is mud all over your frame imo

What are y’all doing for surface rust on painted surfaces. Corner of tailgate. Various small paint chips to hood and rust
Tape and spray with rust reformer then cover with auto paint?

I may be switching over to Corn Oil Latherings in the near future just for the sake of being environmentally conscious. Its safer and sexier than Fluid Film. Lasts about the same amount of time.
