Are they going to be able to break the round of 16 curse? Maybe they were confused and thought they were playing in the round of 16 today.

    LOL

I’m part Portuguese and have a lot of Croatian friends, that’s who I’m rooting. Only time I really watch it, when we’re partying up for FIFA. And my girls are in soccer.

I'm glad some people found my post funny.
That blue Croatia away kit looks so good. Dejan Lovren is my least favorite Liverpool player, I'm sure he will make a mistake that causes Croatia to lose.

I played soccer for 10 - 12 years growing up, including at some higher levels. Never did we overdramatize contact as much as these pansies do. I enjoy watching the games, but their diving, crying, and "injuries" are annoying. The most recent one, Senegal player gets light leg contact then lays on the ground in so called agony for a minute or two. Once they finally whistle the play dead, he hops up, tells off the ref and he's back in the game. Unbelieveable.

If every injury these numpties had was real or as bad as they make it look, soccer would be the most dangerous sport in the world and the controversy would be bigger than the concussion debate going on in kids' football and hockey.

Agreed. The simulation is annoying. Yesterday a player rolled over 5 times then jumped up

Love soccer, but can’t stand the pansy bs that international soccer/futbol is today. I stuck with lacrosse through HS and College bc you could kick ass, get your ass kicked, shake hands and have a beer after the game. No crying and rolling on the ground bc someone breathed near you.

Left pic...pre yellow card shot for fake "foot" injury while stupid horns are constantly blaring while playing "kickball" to a nil nil tie. Right pic...."running with feet"...aka foot..carrying a pigskin "ball" thru 300 lb lineman and then trying to avoid monster linebackers that eat "kickball" players for appetizers.

Careful now......no badmouthing soccer in this thread. Butthurt will surely ensue.....

I have to agree on the nil-nil comment. I heard someone tell me the other day that Germany got "crushed". I figured it would be a score of like 10-0 or something. No - it was a 2-0 ass-whooping. 2 points? Yeah.....crushed the eff out of them.

Not too worried about ensueing butt hurt ever. I wasn't the one who made fun of American "football" on a soccer thread. Emphasis on making "fun of" All in jest. I responded in kind. NFL has it's making fun of issues too lately. Lol

I hope he reminded you that at least they made it to the tournament?

Don't get me wrong, I did laugh quite heartily, just sad it wasn't England who kicked them out

Live breathe and eat soccer!!! Soccer will never be gig in the US because they can’t stop the game every five seconds to sell you shit and prolong the game for 4 hours. It’s straight play for 45min and can’t infuse their bullshit commercials every 2 seconds of action.

I’d say it will be between Belgium and Brazil. So many superstars on each team.

Agree there are a lot of dives and over dramatization but then I also remember these guys are playing with metal studs on their cleats and it doesn't take much for those to cause a lot of pain. I played high school soccer in the 80's on the east coast and we all wore screw in cleats and metal studs were allowed then, they hurt.

With that said there is still too much whining form some of the guys.

Back in 1994 literally just before the World Cup kick off in LA a coworker in our shipping department asked me if I wanted to see a soccer tournament. He was from Bolivia and naturally a HUGE soccer fan. We went to East LA Community College. I got to see Bolivia's national team, along with Columbia's with Carlos Valderrama!, Peru, and a non national team from Mexico..UNAM I think that had some Mexican stars from the national team. We sat in the Bolivian fan section. The Bolivian star was Marco Etcheverry. Never had so much fun. Was quite the experience. True fans.....I still remember saying "BOLIVIA!!!" a million times and blowing the stupid horn...heh...heh....
