I have 2 Fumoto Valves ready in waiting for install on my Tundra and Sienna, might need to consider the Stahlbus valve instead....:monocle:

I was looking at this for my next oil change. To me the fumoto sticks down too far and I’d be worried about it getting hit by something on the road. But I’ve never seen one in person and I’m sure it’s good since so many use it.

Has anyone ever had an issue with the check ball in these valves getting clogged by a piece of debris? I've never used one or have done an oil change with one installed on a vehicle.

I’ve never used one either or know anyone who has. I’ve never seen the fumoto in person, but that design worries me. I am the type of person to over tighten everything. I wouldn’t like something holding my oil with just a lever that could be hit with road debris.

I’d guess if the check ball was clogged, you’d just take the whole thing off. It would negate the whole reason for it, but you would still be able to drain your oil.

No issues with mine. Probably the best mod, makes changing the oil a breeze.

If you have road debris that knocks the valve open you're going to have other damage as well.

The lever is spring loaded into a catch and needs some pressure to lift out and turned 90 degrees. They also make a couple different lengths.

That sounds better than what I was assuming from looking at pictures of it. I’m sure it’s good since so many people use them and I haven’t heard anything bad, but I worry about the little things.

I had one on my Subaru for 80k. I ran over some semi truck tread on the road which destroyed my plastic splash guard and hit my Fumoto valve. Nothing happened to the valve. It worked just as well after that as it did before. I had some black marks on it, but that was about it.

That’s good. Sounds like they built it tough. I guess that’s expected though from a popular company who makes something that goes under the truck and holds your engine oil.

If you have your oil changed by a dealership, third party mechanic, or anyone other than YOU, please please check the dipstick and ground for leaks before driving away.

I have worked for THREE different Toyota dealers, and I would NEVER allow them to change my oil because I know they hire the youngest and most inexperienced staff to do the work. They just haven't been in the workforce long enough to care about your $55k+ brand new truck. And I'm saying this as someone who could have had his oil changed practically for free!!

For me, changing the oil in my driveway provides some extra quality time with my sons.

SOO TRUE! Wife and I saw a Tesla, yes a TESLA driving in the pines. This was not a road to drive a Tesla
unless they wanted to destroy the suspension.
