Retired Navy Seabee served 25 years, this photo was taken 30 years ago in Guam. "We build, we fight" is our Seabee motto now I just build new apartment buildings and fight with my wife on how much money I'm going to spend on Mods.......:spending:

One of many things I regret about my time in the military was not taking any photos. It was highly frowned upon in my command. Shitty senior enlisted and even shittier senior officers. Poor command culture and environment.

That's unfortunate. I am still in contact with my old CO and SgtMaj to this day, and they insisted that we document every thing that we could with out giving any sensitive info away and I was in a tactical electronic warfare Squadron.

Don't know about you guys but all of the Navy's Prowler Squadron has transition over to the EA-18G. Got them brand-new straight from the Boeing plant. I left shortly after. They are definitely maintainer friendly unlike these.

Only after getting out I realized that the Navy's culture is completely different from the other branches. Most but not all Sailors don't ever see combat or ever step foot in that environment therefore who's the next closest enemy? The person next to you! It's all about making rank, brown nosing, and what you can do to further your career. I've seen an entire shop at each others throat for a power grab. When you don't have someone shooting at you, you have no common enemy. Everyone is a threat and it's every man for himself. It's one of the main reason why I left.

Wow never even thought about it like that. That stinks. I have been out for 13 years, and still to this day talk to most of the guys and gals served with. these are my closest friends.

My squadron had it's sunset last year, and continued with the prowlers to the end.

You’re looking inside the NR2 Main Reduction Gear (MRG) of a Destroyer. Not often these things get damaged, but when they do it’s quite a process to open, inspect, and repair. This is DDG 63 about 4 years ago when I was serving as Chief Engineer. I’ll dig up some missile shooting pics later :)

IMG_2156.jpg IMG_2154.jpg IMG_1615.jpg After spending 24 years on active duty and now being retired for a few years, I have the unfortunate job of seeing once mighty warships at the end of their lives. Most Americans have never seen an active duty ship up close, much less one that is ready to be scrapped.

VA-22 was deployed on CVN-65 while I was ships company. The squadron had a acronym that was YCBARC. I think if you utter that today you go to CAPTAINS MAST.

You can say YCBAR. The Fighter/Attack squadron is "The Fighting Redcocks", so "You can't beat a Redcock" is totally acceptable. Now if you say "you can't beat a redcock since it is already sore..." might be a different story.

    Or saying this....

You can beat a cock red but you can't beat a Redcock!!!

I just pulled that off the squadron's FB page...LOL

I was one of the last crews on a carrier as it took its last journey for decommission. Sad to see a ship with so much history retire into the sunset.
