Within a local dealership franchise yes, at the corporate level no.

This is a corporate level issue that they have mishandled horrendously and please stop sticking up for them.

Do they make a good product yes or otherwise we wouldn't be here. Do they make mistakes yes they do as does everyone one else. My issue is there's a bunch of promises features but Toyota has under delivered they had no problem taking customer money and posting record profits though. It's 2023 stop using Covid and supply chain issues as a never ending crutch and get back at it your the constant number one in volume auto manufacturer we the customers expect better.

Dude, you really must be fun at parties.

    1) caveat emptor. You knew you were getting one key (there was a sticker on the window FFS) and you signed the papers and took the truck home.
    2) your definition of "train wreck" is out of whack. How many times have you been stranded by the side of the road by this issue? Yeah, me neither.

I saw a reference to "class action suit" here elsewhere. Holy Christ the whining on this site over trivial crap is awe inspiring! SMH.

    1. I was not told about the single key till we started signing paperwork so there was no mention on the window sticker or any additional stickers tags etc.

    2. the train wreck is was and continues to be the sporadic broken and misleading information. At time of purchase I was told by the dealership and Toyota Co
"Key would arrive by April" then "should be March" then "Early Spring" then "summer" now the chart says "August"
As to the inconvenience that's up to a case by case basis I have the truck to trailer my ATV's and sleds, with that comes a ton of backcountry riding and the potential for key's especially the new electronic ones that we have to be lost or damaged. Also have you ever heard of the "one is none and two is one" as someone who's hobbies and career depends heavily on backup plans it's a big issue. I have given Toyota Motor Co over 100k in less than 16 months it's an issue to me and most other people in this thread. If it's not an issue to you or your fine coughing up another 500.00 to buy another key then good for you.. As a customer I'm fed up and I'm allowed to feel that way it's been over eight months since I bough the truck and the CarPlay issue still exists, the fuel tank issue still exists, digital key is still missing (this was promoted for the 2022) and yes the key.

    Nothing yet, brand new.
‘22 SR5 purchased in October of ‘22, came with 2 fobs. Also got some key fob sales tax reimbursement credited to my finance account. It was over $300 so it knocked my monthly payment down by half, but I’ve kept paying the full amount keeping that credit for a rainy day

Wow this thread continues…. Just buy one or wait patiently.

For your next truck upgrade buy a fob. Skip on the tires or TRD 3” lift and get a fob.

Over a fob…. really?! First world problems, it’s not like you weren’t notified you’d only receive one fob.

Let us know if this works... and maybe do a summary of the TS process to register them. And $135 would be bad to get a second one ASAP, IMO.

LOL... you can scream at the clouds or Toyota all you want. Both listen about the same. Or both are equally deaf.

I know... you'll have to upgrade to Platinum + trim to get 2 fobs.

It seems many think the shortage of fob #2 is malfeasance by Toyota. Obviously, they were trying to strike a balance of delivering more product against available supply of the fobs. All of the trucks I looked at had stickers that said it delivers with one fob and the dealer was clear when they delivered the truck to me the second would arrive later.
If the second fobs were available in quantity what motivation do they have to hold onto them now? Looks good on the bottom line? Their COGS on a fob can't be more than about $20. I can't think of any reason they would hang onto them unless they just intentionally want to piss people off which I don't think is the case.

I dunno... many of us, including me, are just making fun of all this and commiserating. What else do we have to do?? ;-). After all we no longer seem to have failing waste gates to talk about. But according to "the chart" my truck is supposed to get the 2nd fob in August. So far Aug 1, no fob. LOL.

I'm in the August group as well and suspect that September 1st will come and go and I still won't have a key.

My second key fob was ordered at nearby Toyota dealer parts department by a Toyota Brand Engagement Advocate. Ordered at a dealer that isn’t the original selling dealer. It arrived today not at the end of the year as forecasted by Toyota plan. My build date was march just thought everyone may want to know. I stated what I did in previous posts to get my 2nd key fob. Good Luck

I received this today. Still going to have to wait, bu, there is a new recall on my truck.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have also researched your 2023 Toyota Tundra, VIN, and determined it is involved in Safety Recall 23TB03, which is currently in interim status. Toyota will send another owner notification when the replacement parts are ready. These notification letters will be mailed over several months, consistent with parts availability.
A Brand Engagement Center Advocate has added a comment to your inquiry.

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., and choosing Toyota for your driving needs.

We appreciate you taking the time to comment with us regarding the second key fob for your 2023 Toyota Tundra.

We genuinely apologize for any continued delay due to the global semiconductors shortage. Manufacturers are facing a shortage of microchips for our Smart Key entry systems. Toyota will contact owners by first class mail advising when to return to the dealer to receive your second key at no charge. We apologize again and continue to request your patience.

Yep I keep getting notices for the factory cover I never had via Carfax, My Toyota app, and got the mail notice too. Pretty silly I've even marked it as completed on Carfax but it keeps popping up. Funny how they can issue a recall on something that a lot of people never had.

Another amusing thing I had happen is it took Toyota 10 weeks (10 WEEKS!!!) to figure out how to correct my name in the application and my Toyota online account (think the dealer flipped my first and last name somewhere which is common for a man with two first names). Tech support would try and change it then try and close the ticket and then it would always change its self right back and they tried that for about 5 weeks. I still get email's addressed to my last name but the app at least shows it correctly. For the most part Toyota knows how to make cars but sucks with anything technology related (hence the blanket recall).

Contacted Toyota this morning reference open case for 2nd FOB. Confirmed Toyota currently moving on list (Published on this thread) providing owed 2nd Key FOB's.

My Tundra is set and told I will receive mail from them this month (August) with direction to present the letter to servicing Toyota Dealer to fulfill owed 2nd FOB.

Picked up 2nd key fob today. Service manager at dealer had an email from Toyota Brand Engagement to cover cost of new key fob and programming. This whole thing has been confusing from purchase till now. Lack of communication period from corporate to the dealer but Toyota Brand Engagement stepped in made it right.

They sure haven't come through with anything on our tonneau covers 6 months in. If I get my notice to get my second fob in August as the chart says... a big IF... I'll almost be afraid to go pick it up for the risk of having my tonneau cover yanked. And I need that cover for a road trip in Sept. LOL.

Sure, it'll eventually be resolved. But there is no indication that they are going to make us whole for the inconvenience and lack of function of a main piece of our trucks for... maybe a year??? That's insane. And pathetic. And they could have given us a refund to fix it in real time. No, they get zero credit from me at this point just for "eventually" resolving it.
