Nice! I only wore it for about a year before they switched us over. Also retired.

My front tires on Fords [I've had 5 of them] wore unevenly no matter that I rotated them every 3,000 miles.

I was responding according to human experience.

You are responding with automotive knowledge, apparently.

    Pray continue.

@71_340 I'm German too. My grandparents came from the old country and homesteaded Kansas. My uncle, Marvin Finger, was one of two guys who carried a BAR and fought under Audie Murphy.:oldglory:

Little of topic but here it goes.

I came here in 1985 as a military depended (met my wife while she was stationed in Germany), in 86 I joined the US Army as a little Private and just retired as a W4 after 32 years. I love the USA and the freedom you have. the only thing I hate here is the bread.

By the way, I have the utmost respect for WWII veterans and even have the privilege of meeting one every once in a while at the PX or commissary since I live right outside Ft. Leonard Wood.

I like to think that I have a decent amount of knowledge. Worked in automotive maintenance since 1972 and just retired from a position as a maintenance advisor for the MO National Guard State HQ.

About this whole thread about jumping ship due to problems with a Tundra.....all makes have problems. Just had my truck at the dealer today for a rattling moonroof (now fixed) and I need a whole new rear window because the defroster doesn't work. It is under warranty.

My advice is to buy a truck that appeals to you with the features you like. I had a 2018 Tundra Limited, very nice truck but was lacking some features I want and the interior is done cheaply in my opinion. I hope the next Tundra improves in those areas and I'll get a Platinum.

Small world. I guess you bought your truck at Seeger Toyota? I found the sales department hard to deal with but they do have a topnotch service department.

I have friend who's father came from Germany and was a baker there. Brought his craft to the US and taught my friend the trade. He said it was too difficult so he became a rocket scientist and then commercial pilot instead. He hates the bread here too. You Germans take your bread (and your beer) very serious. That is the truth!

Seeger's finance guy used to be ... a person I did not appreciate.:D However, since they got a new one a few years back, I am on board with Seeger again. [Actually, I think a young man who I used to coach has either taken over recently or is being trained to do so, which would be good for me.:D]

Anyway, we originally went to Riley Toyota in Jeff City, which is an AWESOME Toyota dealership, btw [but Seeger is closer:notsure:]. I work with Gary Lewis [salesman] now at Seeger.

When we bought our 2015 4runner Trail Edition, we went to Seeger and worked them down on the price, got a quote [on paper] and then took it to Riley in Jeff City: they dropped their price another 500 bucks and added running boards for free.

I was going to buy a new Tundra from Seeger, last year, but I have a son who works in the used car lot of the Reliable Subaru dealership in Springfield. The owner of the dealership buys a new Tundra, drives it 10,000 miles, and sells it there and gets another [cycle and repeat].

I know, unbelievable, but he's rich and that's what he does.

I got his '18 Limited with 9,000 miles on it, leveled, aftermarket rims, tires, predator steps, tinting, and a TRD Pro exhaust added for $39,900. [My son told me they made a mistake when they priced it online and honored the price.]

I don't know what it was worth, but Gary Lewis offered to trade me a new Tundra and give me cash for it at that time, so I guess I got a good deal.

We're planning on buying another 4runner next year, as they are awesome vehicles IMO.

P.S. If you drive a cement '18 Limited Tundra, I believe I saw you yesterday when I was on my way home.

On both of my service trucks f-350 srw 2wd. Both have independent "i beam" front suspension, not two be confused with "twin traction beam" they used in the 90s on 4wd vehicles. Although they are the same basic components sans the front diff and axles

I do not drive a Tundra right now, I have a 2017 F-150 Platinum. When I did buy my Tundra I bought it from Fletcher Toyota in Joplin, very easy to deal with and cheaper. Whenever the next Tundra comes out (and has the improvements I am looking for) I will give Seeger another try.

Do you work on Ft. Wood?

Glad you are ok, but going GM or Ford will leave you wanting to come back to a Tundra.

As a former GM person, I would stick with the Tundra. GM moved to China and Mexico. Ford is well Ford. Their Eco boost is junk. Ram has a myriad of electrical issues. GM and Ford have not been able to provide a reliable 8 or 10 SPD transmission. The Tundra 6 speed has served well and continues to do just that. The GM 8 speed is lucky to get 60k before it fails.

Yup, I worked for GM when I was shopping for a hauler truck, for my road racing trailer. At the time the new transmissions were GTFO here POS manure piles of typical GM OTR side dead. Co-workers gobbled them up, and then their trucks sat at dealers for months waiting for parts. That's when I bought my used PowerStroke. No, I don't GAF, and yes I drove an auction Crown Vic to work at a GM factory after my Camry died.

915 is a great MOS. I was in the mechanical field before I joined the military. I was a 351M. I've only been retired for about 5 years. Congrats on yours too! And, thank you for serving!

I pulled the trigger and put down a deposit on a 2020 Gray Platinum Tundra today. It should arrive from the factory next week. $48,700 out the door with moonroof and spray-in bedliner. Another dealer offered me a better price, after I was locked in to this truck. However, I've been satisfied with this dealership over the past 5 years, so I don't feel bad about the deal. Thank you all for steering me in the right direction!

It cracks me up when people report how "trouble free" their <60,000 mile vehicles are, yes they better be! You're not going to really know until 85,000 + miles.

Why wont they make platinum trim in double cab with 6.5' bed... I would almost consider buying one. Oh you want power fold mirrors, ventilated seats AND be able to throw 6 feet of crap in the back? sorry...

    A bunch
You were asking about Tundra's in fleet vehicles - had one guy I worked with that another company he worked at previously used Tundra's as survey vehicles. That's about as abusive as you can get - many companies won't take their trucks past 150k km's because everything starts breaking, doesn't matter which brand. Except the Tundra's. He mentioned how they would just last and last like none of the others. Only issue was the tiny gas tank pre-2016 he said. His experience was the same as mine for my 2010, and that's almost the same as my 2016.

And sure you don't get most of the gadgets on Tundra's that you can get elsewhere - but you do get anything safety related on ALL trims in the Tundra. Go to the big 3 and you have to go to mid level trims to get the new safety features. It's one thing that annoys me to no end with the big 3 - if I want the extra safety features it's either pay 2-3k on top of a $50k trim level or pay $75k before it's included. Go Tundra and the base model has the safety sense features, and go to $45k and I get parking sensors too.
