"Tennessee, Tennessee, ain't no place I'd rather be..." I used to fish the Caney Fork a lot, and Abrams Creeks in the Smokies. TN, great place.

Louisiana is really nice for hunting and fishing, but it is true that the TN boys make awesome shine. I used to belong to the Owl Hollow gun club south of Nashville. Those guys out there really made good stuff.

SoCal has nice weather, and nice hikes (We do Topanga Canyon whenever we go out) but man, just too many people. People everywhere. Thank you for the warm welcome, Porkitt, and I like your screen name

@pamntman , if it wasn't for family and work, I'd be out where you are or WV. I used to live in MD and I miss how green it is. You're right too many people, mainly libtards.

Welcome from Southeast PA. I am in the same boat - looking for "subtle" sliders\step bars\rails, that are also not an arm and a leg. I will keep an eye on this thread to see what you decide - which way you leaning?

Thanks Borgs! Nice to meet a fellow PAer here.
Like you, I am interested only in subtle sliders with steps, nothing showy or grandiose.
I was going to buy the really cheap step-sliders on ee-bay, but they weigh a total of 40 pounds with both tubes combined, which just does not sound like a lot of steel. Those must be thin pipes, and the seller did not answer my question about pipe thickness. Their advantage is they are tucked back in and under, with just the steps visible from the street, which is appealing and better functioning than big outriggers that catch on everything. So they look good and function high in terms of avoiding unnecessary hang-ups, but they also look like they are made from cheap, thin, Chinese mild steel tubing. Heck even I can buy some cheap black pipe from a local plumbing shop (that is likely thicker than the aforementioned sliders), bend some thin-diameter steel pipe, stick weld on the steps, and make the brackets from 3/16" steel plate. Angle grinder with cutting wheel and flap disk can do most of what needs done. And if it comes to that, I will do it. But I am not there yet. I'd rather type on the "Buy Now" button and hand it off to our mechanic and have it done fast and right. Like you I am not looking to spend a lot. Somewhere there is a happy balance between function and price, but I have not yet encountered it. Let me know if you find something!

Thanks for the detailed response. We are on the same page. There are some decent ones out there, but it seems like you need to cough up $1000. That seems a little rich to me. I have a set of ICI Magnum RT steps. I had them on for a few hundred miles but just didn't like the look so I pulled them off and they are in my garage collecting dust (my truck is stock TRD height and frankly the ICI Magnums looked too beefy - on pics they look much better with larger tires, lifted). If you or anyone you know is interested, I will cut you a deal you can't refuse. In any event, I agree, there needs to be a decent balance somewhere - let's stay in touch during this pursuit of goodness. Where in PA? Sorry if I missed it in the 40 other previous threads. "God's Country," however, in your profile, suggests northeastern tier.

Sorry for late response, Borgs, was fine-tuning the Bak Flip FiberMax at the garage, and it took a lot lot longer than I would have estimated. Hours. The drop-in Rugged bedliner definitely gets in the way of a perfect fit, so there's some very delicate trimming and filing to get things right, so the tailgate will close properly (as opposed to how it was closing, which was closed, but improperly closed and therefore not really secure).
    Glad that is done.
God's Country is northcentral, although Potter County actually has big signs at the three or four roads entering the county that proclaim it "God's Country." Technically speaking, I think the northeast folks brand themselves the "Endless Mountains" region. It is the Poconos to everyone else, which now means basically overrun by liberal flatlanders from Joizy. Sacriligeous, I know, but what can we do about it...
Thank you for the running board suggestion. Taking my time on this slider selection. So many of them are the opposite of the look I want, which is subtle high function.

Thank you, EJ. I am getting there. I might take a photo now just to satisfy you guys. My wife is out of town, or I'd have her dress down and pose properly, a cheap ploy for up-votes. Sorry about your new state holiday, bud.

Hey Rick! Thank you. Wow, all these sane and normal people from SoCal. The two of you I just got acquainted with here are two more than the others I have met in SoCal over the past 25 years of visits. I'll look you guys up next time out, which will probably be this time next year, when me and Wife drive across our exceptional United States and back in our '17 Tundra outfitted for the trip with a roof tent etc.

'17 Tundra TRD CrewMax, with Rugged drop-in bed liner, BakFlip FiberMax trifold cover (up), AMP extender, WeatherTech front floor mats, and if you look closely the winter wheels are visible in back, stock OEM steel wheels with Falken WildPeak AT3s and yes, dealer-approved tps sensors. The winter wheels are swapped out in early November and taken off in late April or when the mud starts to dry.

Sure! There are a few of us still in SoCal. Honestly if it weren't for my wife I would have probably moved a few years ago. A roof tent - that's going on my list!

No sweat man. I have a BAK Mx4 Tonneau and am not thrilled with it. Leaks and Rivets are rusting. We have a cabin in Bradford County, off RT 220 - and I have seen both "God's Country" and "Endless Mountain" monikers used there. We used to have a hunting camp in Potter - family got rid of that one when I was a young lad though. My buddy has a nice hunting camp outside Lock Haven. We have friends in Jefferson and Indiana Counties, Elk and Johnstown and Pittsburgh of course. Growing up in Northampton County - near Blue Mountain - I must admit I am a flatlander.

Go on YouTube and search "overland roof tent," you'll be amazed at what's available, and they're getting better

You know the lay of our land! You're no clueless flatlander.
The BAK has been disappointing just from the installation experience. Perhaps I'm expecting too much. It's going to take a pile of silicon to make it less leaky than it already looks like it's going to be. Truth is, small leaks are tolerable. It's snow and ice and security that I'm most focused on, and it should do those well.
