You are unique, and I respect that, but I could never drive like that. That takes a lot of discipline which I don't have.

If I'm driving, definitely not fun. You'll want to have another person to talk to, or crossword puzzles, or some shit.
Yes, I've been called special on more than one occasion.
It's probably not as bad as you're picturing it, but I definitely pay more attention and am harder to have a conversation with while driving than pretty much any other person I've been in a vehicle with.
I have plenty of other areas of my life where I could use more focus and discipline. I am human.
Driving has just always been one of those things that I'm borderline autistic about though. Not to make light of it. I might actually be on the spectrum somewhere.
I've just never been tested for it. It's way down on the list of things I should probably be tested for.

Actually, a better way to describe it:
Know how if you're super into a movie and you're wife/GF has a full blown 10 min conversation with you and you don't really hear a word she says because you're paying attention to what's going on in the movie?
    It's kinda like that.
If I turn and talk to my wife, then I miss 10 min of the movie and have no idea what happened.
Difference in a vehicle is that if I turn and chat with the wife and miss what's going on out there, we're probably screwed.

Anyway, did you ever figure out how to config the radio so you're not pressing 15 buttons to get out of the phone setting?

I have noticed that the head unit doesn't do a great job at going back to what it was doing before being interupted.

Android Auto, the Toyota icon will almost never recognize when press. So i just double tap it now... seems to work better. My Spotify pauses and i can't unpause too.

    Have you changed the sensitivity?
Factory is a long press, ford was not and PA roads I was hitting all sorts of shit. The Tundra is not as sensitive....now when the wife didn't have her glasses on she manage to lower the airbags, turn on the 4 ways and something else then after I about crapped myself laughing all she wanted was the heated seat turned on!
I could write a short book on jer navigating the big screen:p
I also use Google to send text by voice, eyes stay on the road and it even repeats your message before you ok to send.

The infotainment system is horrible, just like my 2012 GX460's but better resolution. Even with CarPlay, all the apps don't work right or at all (GAIA maps, OnX) just gone. Lack of a scroll knob for your channels, can't scroll through SiriusXM in a list format, and have to search by stupid genre or Saved Favorites only, absolutely horrid design. (The base Taco I had for a loaner even had a second knob where you can scroll through 1-999 or whatever) It's not just the little things, but ALLLLLLLL the little things that seem thrown together that pushes me to the edge. Hopefully in 3 years the new GX is out and used ones priced down to cross back over. While there are good/great things about the truck, Toyota is way drunk on their own US-spec'd Koolaid. My Latest Fav is the new LandCruiser on the commercials with all the adventure bros, boasting living free and lasting forever, and 2 trucks that aren't even available. Maybe they'll have keys though by next Fall...

I do appreciate how seriously you take maintaining control of a vehicle. While you may take it to the extreme (or maybe I'm too lax?), I definitely agree more people should take driving more seriously than they do. Would save a lot of $, headaches, and lives.

The infotainment system is nothing but a pure pain to navigate and use. The first time my phone rang, it took me off of XM and connected my AA. After the call disconnected. I had a split screen with either my phone history on one side and my Waze or my I Heart Radio on the other side. XM continues to play but you have to hit multiple icons to get back to where you were. The Toyota Engineer that came up with that idea needs to find a new career. I am glad that I am not the only that is annoyed by this.

A side note for our father figure chiming in. It does not matter if you answer the phone or not. So this complaint from the owners of the current generation Tundras is valid. It's not just bothering the people who are talking on the phone while driving. It affects anyone who was talked into connecting their phone to the truck at the Dealership.

Actually, you just gave me a good idea. Just completely disconnect my phone from my truck. I don't know why I didn't think of something so simple. Oh wait, will I lose Google Maps if I do that? Now, to figure all that out.

if your phone is on Bluetooth, it is no difference than having a conversation with a person next to you. Do you require silence in your car while driving?

I hate things that are not well designed and intuitive to use. As for it being dangerous - that's on you because you have choices.
