Is the FRAC different than the Anytimebackupcamera kit? I have the Anytime kit and mine works from the switch......I don't have to select a camera input on the head unit first.

I have been using mine for several months now. SC7862 6GB model in matte black. The matte black blends well with the dash. I didn't go glossy because it wouldn't match any other surfaces in the vehicle.

Mine does not have any rebooting issues.

The screen is not too bright for night driving and the screen dims when I turn on my headlights. The buttons also only illuminate when my lights are on.

Fitment was perfect. The unit sits in the dash like it came from the factory. No issues with the top popping out. The unit even came with new yellow dash clips.

The unit boots fast. It works well with YouTube music. I am too cheap to pay for any streaming services.

Wifi and Bluetooth have been very reliable. I use my hotspot when driving.

I like that the backup camera displays before the unit is fully booted.

Sound quality is great. I messed with the EQ a bit. It just needed a little help with the high frequencies. Full disclosure I do have all Alpine brand components, sub and amps.

The functionality of the unit far out ways my cons list below. I had more issues with the factory entune unit than I have with this new Phoenix.

    - I don't like that the home screen is not customizable.
    - after installing the unit I can't change the theme color on my instrument cluster lcd screen. It's stuck in the orange theme.
-The passenger airbag light doesn't indicate status properly. Phoenix sent me a harness to fix this but I would have to take apart the unit and don't think it's worth the time to fix. Plus I may mess something else up while working on it.
-Phone calls don't default to the driver front dash speakers anymore. It seems the sound fades to all front speakers.

Thanks for the write up @MaxPower, very helpful. After reading the vastly different experiences that you, @helidave and @Ted4311 have had compared to @texasrho83, it sounds like it's a bit of a roll of the dice whether it will work well or not.

I think it's a nice concept and a nice lookin radio. For the price though, I think you can get a better unit with better resolution from a more established company.

To each their own. I've read bad reviews on top name head units for tundras. Yeah it's risky going with an off name, for the price it's damn good

You have to be willing to tweak and learn. Overall it's a good unit.

I compare this unit like I would if I asked an iPhone user to give feedback on an android phone or vise versa

You can if you install a different launcher from the play store. It replaces the whole home screen except for the HVAC bar at the bottom. I like Nova launcher. There is another one called Car Launcher Pro that is popular that I want to try too.

I've always liked to tinker and dig into settings and customizations so I think I'll give it a try.

    Thanks all for the inputs!

I highly recommend it. I'm also an android Google junkie. Yes there are quirks but none of which I'd steer people away from it. The awesomeness out weigh the quirks

In the tech industry I have learned nothing is perfect. It comes down to what level of effort you want to tinker will drive the brand of unit

Prime example is phones. They all are awesome. It comes down to preference. This unit is just that, it's awesome but takes some learning which I like

The FRAC Harness is designed to maintain OEM functionality as well as provide selection of a camera at any time. So if your head-unit displays the rear camera automatically when shifting into reverse, then there should be no extra steps to get the front camera other than selecting the front camera on the FRAC cam select switch. This is because the "reverse" signal is actually the trigger for the OEM head unit to go to its camera display mode.

However, if the front camera video RCA was plugged into the head unit front cam port rather than keeping it plugged into the FRAC Harness, then an extra step of selecting camera on the Head Unit could be necessary.

Any of you guys have an issue with your truck no longer beeping when you lock/unlock with the key fob? Mine isn't, and the setting to turn that function on doesn't do anything. Wondering if this is a common issue of something weird with mine. Phoenix has been very responsive but haven't been able to solve it yet.

Yea, I know, but mine doesn't click on and off. Nothing happens when you try and change it. All the other vehicle settings work fine. They sent me new firmware to flash but it didn't fix it.

I just installed mine and it does not beep anymore either. The setting on the radio was set at 7 and I was unable to change it as well.

Did anyone else get the email from Phoenix with the new canbus update? I received an email from them but haven't had a chance to see if it fixed the beeping and airbag light issue.

Does anyone else have a problem with a very low volume level from the rear speakers with their SC7862?

I played with the rear horn strength slider in the equalizer and that seems to help. The only issue is that slider seems to reset itself to random levels every time I turn on the truck.
