Are you still happy with your unit? How is the sound quality, fit and finish?

Based on your dash trim it looks like you had manual climate control. How do you like the new touch screen controls? Does it manage temperature well?

It's great! My fan knob was acting up so this fixed it.

Very responsive and I'd assume temperatures are pretty accurate, well it feels appropriate

When I say fan knob was acting up, it would turn to medium high or high it was delayed. Now it's rapid as it should

Thanks for the replies. Just ordered the 6gb Ram Android 10 model. I'm an Android guy too so I think it will be pretty straightforward. It was $765 with the wifi OBD2 adapter. It didn't look like I needed any other add-ons. I think the only thing I'll miss is HD radio but it's not a deal breaker.

Can you still access the factory USB and 12 volt outlets below the AC controls?

What did you order from Amazon to get the factory GPS to work? I only ask as I would prefer not to have to pull the unit out several times.

It took me 2 months to get it. WELL WORTH THE WAIT! It woke up my factory nonJBL system. I've actually started to save for a supercharger over new speakers. I'm that impressed with the audio

It meshes well. I really like it. I think the matte would clash. That's just my two cents

Just ordered the sc7862 6g/128g from Phoenix. Been looking through this thread and the facebook group. Am I correct in thinking that the only other thing I'll need is an adapter for the factory gps antenna? Has anyone found a less expensive way to do it than the $30 maestro kit?

It comes with its own GPS antenna but yeah you'll need the adapter if you wanna keep OEM GPS.

I've had mine for months now. Best choice I made, I'm an android user so it's right up my ally. Usability and functionality is on point. Produced better sound. Overall very pleased and yes it took months to get after ordering, it was worth the wait

Are you still running the FRAC with yours? I got mine hooked up but the frac camera switch doesn't do anything now. If I press the CAM button on the radio it shows the front cam though.

that's how's it works. To activate the FRAC now you press camera button then you control the front or rear switch on the FRAC. I knew this ahead of time, I emailed them about how the headunit would work with FRAC. So it's one extra press on headunit to activate the camera function then you use the FRAC

Installed yesterday. Pretty simple plug and play. Everything seems to be working good so far. Been tweaking settings and installed Nova launcher to clean up the home screen.

Maps and Gaia work fine. Bluetooth and wifi connected without issue, although the wifi range could be better. Sound quality is at least as good as the factory radio, and I haven't played with the eq at all yet. All the steering wheel buttons and hvac functions work as designed. You can split screen apps, which is nice. Music app on the top half of the screen and map on the bottom, for example. Still haven't messed with some of the functions like custom button assignments. I think I'm going to get a sim card so it will have it's own data connection.

Gripes so far: be nice if the screen had a bigger range of brightness and dimness. truck no longer beeps when you lock/unlock with the key fob, and the setting to turn it on doesn't work. Wish it came with an adapter for the OEM gps antenna instead of having to spend another $35. there are icons for hvac features that my truck doesn't have and they can't be removed from the display.

    My impression so far: 8/10.

its the sc7862 in matte black. https://phoenixautomotiveinc.com/co...oyota-tundra-2014-2019?variant=37937183359162

The only other things I've noticed besides what I mentioned in my other post is that the picture quality on the backup camera looks worse than it did on the factory headunit (I think that's cause it's being displayed on a higher resolution screen now), and the function to unlock all the doors with one button press on the remote turned itself off yesterday and had to be re-enabled in the menu. Not a big deal.

How do you like the matte black? If I decide to get one, it'll be matte or gloss black, trying to decide which.

Couple additional questions for you or anyone that wants to chime in...

    - Is the brightness at night an issue? I read from another person that on earlier versions, the screen was too bright at night.
    - The video Phoenix put out about it mention that it's capable of wireless CarPlay, has anyone tried it yet? Will it Auto Connect?
    - Earlier versions seemed to suffer from some fitment issues at the top where it would occasionally pop out...any problems with that?
    - Can you get rid of the truck icon on the home page? Can you customize the background image?
    - Have you tried any streaming apps? I spend a LOT of time parked at soccer practice...
    - Older versions of this radio seemed to suffer from random reboots or blank screens...any issues with that?
    - Has the loss of physical AC controls been an issue? Is there a setting to keep them visible at the bottom?

Thanks. I've asked these questions directly to Phoenix but haven't heard anything back yet after more than a week. Sounds like that's pretty common unfortunately.

*Fitment issues at the top, from my experience, are not an issue. In fact, I had to remove the radio a couple times and damn near had to bust out with a torch to get the top portion of the radio to pop out.

*From my limited time playing with the settings, I found you have a set number of vehicles to be displayed, one of which is the white Tundra. I do not think it can be removed. The background image can be altered though.

*The one I bought had big time issues with needing to be reset and the blank screen issue. Ended up sending it back for a refund.

Which version/model did you buy that had all the issues? Was it one of the latest versions?
