Not sure if they have corrected it but you may have to notch out a small plastic part in the top center of HU opening, also when installing the unit i removed the center speaker and made sure the wires were pulled back far enough. They will also push outward on the HU.

I confirmed that it does come with Android Auto and Carplay built in, no need to add it as an option, even though their order screen list them as a $40.00 option. They confirmed my address yesterday and a pic of my dash- no sure why, thought all of the 3rd gens were the same. Something about vent positions, which makes me curious. Shall see once I receive it.

I also ordered this unit and messaged Phoenix and they do not have an estimated ship date yet. Is this this same info you have received?

Did you paint the screen border black? Looks great. Thinking about buying for my 2020 SR5.

Putting this up for those guys that want black trim bezel. Our pal JoshuaA gave me the inspiration and motivation to disassemble mine and have it painted (by a local body shop) all in one spray paint would have served the same but I wanted to make sure the finish was perfect. I like the black much better, as for the headunit, its been a learning curve with a couple of hiccups but overall very pleased with it.

Yup, preorder here.. but it's to replace one of the Phoenix Android first versions. I'll give it another 2 months.

Longer term usage results: It's very tempting to go back to the stock unit. Not my first choice, as the stock HU has a much smaller screen and doesn't accommodate multiple outside cameras, but just seeing some intermittent issues with the Tesla HU that are quite annoying. We would miss being able to watch Youtube. utilize some apps like ODB II tire pressures, view our home security cameras when traveling, etc. This one may go up for sale soon, if anyone is interested.

I also have one of the TS HU on preorder, but having some second thoughts. I actually have a Eonon 10" android HU that I have been messing around with on my desk - I even have some tasker stuff set up to split screens, and stuff like that. While it is capable of doing some cool things, I also find it to be buggy, almost like it has a mind of its own - sometimes things work right and sometimes they don't. On that note, I'd be curious as to the types of issues you have with your Phoenix unit. I just returned from a long trip - I was going to put the Eonon unit in, but chickened out because the issues with the Eonon unit. Some positives I noted with the Stock HU after the trip:

    - While limited, it does what it is supposed to do without flaking out on me
    - While not Android Auto, it integrates well with my phone to play music, handle phone calls and texts
    - The hands free microphone works well with the unit - correct me if I'm wrong, but last I heard this didn't work well with the Phoenix HU
    - The unit will read texts received on my phone, and even interprets many abbreviations, such a IDK for example
    - Some of the Entune apps are ok, such as weather

I would be interested to hear others experiences with capabilities and satisfaction of the stock HU vs aftermarket. Now I'm debating whether the androids bugs are worth any extra capability. I just like stuff that works like it's supposed to, which is kinda why I have a Tundra in the first place.

https://phoenixautomotiveinc.com/pr...-tundra-2014-2019?_pos=2&_sid=f652cfaab&_ss=r this is what we have installed. Microphone works great, Carplay works great, and overall.. it works fairly well to be honest. We just completed a 6-day long trip as well. We also have a Mifi unlimited device we connect to for internet. What we experienced:

    • Great GPS navigation (download your choice of nav app)
    • Great radar weather app (again, your choice of app)
    • Great YouTube viewing (I just listen while driving, she watches)
    • Ability to view backup camera while rolling down the road (to check trailer connection)
    • Great online searches (default set to DuckDuckGop) for hotels, and stops
    • Great viewing security cameras at the house
    • Great ODB II checks for pressures and temps
    • Great audio for phone calls, and even WebEx
    • Great bluetooth carplay integration, can be easily set to auto-connect
    • Pretty cool that the HU arrived with images for splash start and background of the Tundra, giving a slight "hey, I kinda belong in this truck" appearance.

    • Annoying screen stays off at truck startup (had to either hit Reset, or turn off ignition, wait 3-10 seconds, and restart to get screen back viewable). This happened 2-3 times for the entire trip.. mind you the side buttons are lit, but screen off
    • This is supposed to be Fast boot (have ours set to 8 hr sleep), but from a clean boot (no sleep) it takes way to long to come up... good that the backup camera is available nearly immediately, while it finished bootup
    • Annoying when adjusting HVAC buttons (turn a direction, and the temp setting goes opposite for a degree before going the direction you want)
    • No physical volume knob, and the volume adjustments on the screen are poorly designed, but work
    • Home button back light doesn't work
    • Not the best fit to stay in the dash like it should, even after carefully adjusting cables behind HU
    • Wifi connection to the Mifi device sometimes dropped, and sometimes did not auto-reconnect at startup

Thanks, that's helpful. 1st and 2nd negatives alone are enough for me to balk, especially at ~$700.

Hey guys, I have mine installed finally but facing a couple of issues.
1- parking assistant (Radar) has no values when put on reverse; no warnings on the screen
2- Temp for HVAC is set to F regardless of any changes I do
3- Gyroscope doesn't work, should it?
4- interior lights do not turn on when car door is open.

Does anyone has explanation to which settings should be selected? Including the car settings from the console?

I "Pre-Ordered" one of the sc-7862 6G ram new models from Phoenix Android on April 25th. I asked when I ordered how long it would take, they said about 2 months for the Dev team to finish.

2 months later, June 25th rolled around, sent another email. About 2 more months for the Dev team to complete.

2 months later, August 25th just passed, and they had the same response.. About 2 more months for the dev team to complete it.

I cancelled my order, requested my money back and will shop for an expensive partially working headunit somewhere else. I have one of the original Phoenix Android headunit versions that is slow, and apps crash often. I will be looking for options to see what I can replace it with.

Anyone else have a 4 month preorder leaning toward 6-9months, if delivered at all?

No-name aftermarket grille, led fender extensions. Black Horse bambi-basher. Various offroad lights.
I actually had one of their(phoenix) tesla headunits for my 2nd gen, fortunately it was defective, and I returned it. I say fortunately because I discovered that it was so tall it actually covers one of the cup holders in 2nd gens, and the canbus decoder wasn't fully compatible with my godforsaken JBL system (although it was better than other chinese HUs by a hair).

As for chinese headunits, you should just hit up alibaba/aliexpress, its where phoenix is getting theirs anyways. Joying, Daisata, and about 20 other chinese manufacturers are all making versions of the same head units. They all copy each other to some extent but there will be minor hardware, software and support differences.
