Bought the Dasaita 10.2 but not really impressed compared to how the Tesla units look. Thinking about going with this unit but want to make sure I don't need any additional parts to make it work with IPhoneX. If I do need anything, what would I need? Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance
BTW its for a 2007 sr5 double cab non jbl

    Question :
Does Apply Car play /Android Auto use the phone's GPS Antenna or does it use the Cars GPS Antenna when connected?

It would be on the phone since all the apps are located there the unit is the interface which allows your phone to be touch free.

I figured that might be the case but wasn't sure. Thanks very much
Is it safe to assume that when using the maps app directly on the head unit with the head unit connected to a hotspot device, the maps on the head unit is using the truck antenna?

I am just trying to figure out if the antenna on the truck uses both GPS satellite and GLONASS Satellite or just GPS satellite as the truck is American made.

From what I have read it would depend on what chip is inside the device, they are 2 different systems and the device would have to be compatible. They have apps on the Playstore that can tell you what specs your unit has to include hardware and software.

Thinking about grabbing one of these for my 16 sr5. How is screen visibility in direct sunlight? Especially with sunglasses on. The pos kenwood that was in the truck when I got it is nearly invisible in sunlight and completely invisible with polarized glasses on and I don't want to be back in the same boat with a new headunit

There are indeed visibility issues at certain angles when wearing polarized glasses with the Phoenix Android Radio. It's just a matter of moving your head around a little to find the "sweet spot". The brightness during daylight is not an issue.

I just put this on my 16 CM Limited. It's a really nice upgrade, but not without some issues when you install it. I'll try to go over the details..

Overall, now that I'm through a few tweaks and finding a theme I like, I love it. The screen is massive and car play is just like my wifes car only on a giant screen. I did join the facebook group, which was VERY helpful in helping with small issues. I purchased the px6 with android 8.1 and 32 gb on onboard storage. I don't plan on keeping a lot of media on the unit, so I'm not worried about space.

Here are the few issues I had

    1. The AC would not turn on when it was first installed. This was fixed with a setting change and a reboot.
    2. I couldn't get it to default to my local time. There was also a setting to fix this.
    3. I used my factory GPS to attach to the unit, but would not recognize it at first. I had to recheck the adapter and that fixed it.
    4. To use car play, there was a voice recognition setting that needed to be turned off.
    5. Shipping... WOW, this takes forever. If you just accept the fact that your turn around is probably around 20 days, you'll feel a lot better.
    6. I don't believe the pre-outs are 4v.

There's a bunch of complaints that it should work out of the box, which would be nice. You have to figure, if they put the money into the R and D to make these things perfect from the factory, these would cost at least 2k.

    Positives

    1. Very nice addition to your setup. The looks are so much better, as well as adding some tech to an otherwise basic setup.
    2. I have the non jbl amp and speakers. With a few tweaks in the EQ, the sound difference is night and day. The speakers still suck, but it does sound way better than it did. I get better output and sound at level 6 than I did before at 25.
    3. They used to have issues with the microphone's, but works flawlessly on the device and with car play.
    4. Date and time show correct with these versions. With previous versions, it would show date/day/year and a 24 hour time standard, instead of 12.
    5. From my driveway, I have no issues with wireless connectivity when updating apps.
    6. There is a dedicated sub pre-out with sub volume control.

My $.02 is this is a fun addition that gets a lot of attention from anyone who get's into the truck. I have a few buddies with Tundra's who are going to do the same thing after checking out mine. I would do it again if I was given the choice. Quick pic of the unit and the theme I'm using and a pic of the car play screen.

Looks great, my sound improvement was well worth the money spent. Some day I will explore the themes.

I run Sergers custom FW. I had some install bugs. My sound is ok. I wish there was a JBL bypass to turn off the amp. Overall im happy with the unit and love the GPS options.. Google maps offline or off my Harmon Spark OBDII wifi hotspot. Waze you name it. I have the PX6 4gb 64gb rom. I think you can just use a USB stick or hard drive for more storage. I got my USB CarPlay dongle to work finally. I had to update the Box itself that was Kina hidden in a setting. If you have the time to mess with it here and there its great. If you are not tech savvy pass on this unit. My screen boots in 10 seconds or so. If your quick to start your truck and need the backup camera its Kina a pain. I also can use the backup camera on the Fly with on press of a button.

Just got mine, same set up. What options did you get with your unit i.e OBD2 reader etc? Is the factory Nav adapter an extra purchase, or does it come with the unit?

Yeah. I got the reader too but I don’t know what app to install for it. You need an adapter to hook up to the factory gps antenna. Lemme get the part number and pm you.

Yeah. I got the reader too but I don’t know what app to install for it. You need an adapter to hook up to the factory gps antenna. It’s the first and second part in this screen shot moving left to right.

Mine starts as Celsius then defaults to Fahrenheit. Did you want to do the opposite?

Is there a website or something that consolidates information about the different firmwares available/features for different model years/etc...? Trying to do some research, but it seems like the information is pretty scattered.

Yes Sir.. been through every post/ board I can find. It’s driving me mental. 7890 and the 666888. Even went into developer settings looking around. Update MCU and Firmware. Very frustrating.

Mine’s in Settings>System Info>(hold on screen, enter 7890)>Sys settings>(scroll down) Temp uint set (yes that’s how they spelled it)>choose between Centigrade or Fahrenheit, dot is blue

However I have PX3 fast boot button version.

Ok I bought this unit mainly for CarPlay. The 12.1 screen is the only thing I like. Im so done with trying to get it to work and random things popping up on the screen and many other reasons. Im sticking back in the factory deck. This 1000$ POS does not even have a fader from front to rear.. Sonar does not show up on my backup screen. Im just tired of the bugs. Google maps thought I was in russia the other day. I disputed the charge on my Apple Card and ONLY then did Phenix reply to me with a shipping label . I dont trust them one bit. Im going to Video tape the whole packing and shipping process.
edit: It might be the JBL amp but the sound is poor and cracks and pops no matter how I adjust the many volume settings and CUR volume and EQ has to be set to -5 in bass. Loudness comes on sometime all by itself sometimes. Enough madness. This thing is going to make me have an accident. At least the factory deck works. I expected more for 1000$ other than a large screen. Plus its not even fast boot. At first I thought all these problems could be fixed with settings the custom FW. Many problems still remain though. FM radio also sounds like crap. No HD radio. I also had to buy a dedicated hotspot for the truck because it refused to connect to my iPhone without me having to open my phone and click the radio BT and WiFi. ok im done ranting. I know many of you are happy with this unit. I feel like I got pulled over the coals for 988$ shipped with CarPlay that never works for more than 10 minutes if it connects at all wired or wireless.

Does anyone sell a CarPlay adapter that works with the factory deck ?

Nope. It also has another USB that I'm not really using.

Hello.. unfortunately I'm on a business trip and won't be back until tomorrow. I know where the setting is, but I need to look at it. When I get home tomorrow, I can look it up and give you some instructions.
