The gps antenna runs directly to the speaker that is right above the radio. Literally 8" away from it. If it runs to the a pillar on the passenger side, it is the XM antenna wire that goes to the bump on the top of the cab.

Call me crazy, but I thought that was a light sensor. The models with auto headlights have a sensor at that spot and is also one of the easy to do mods on this site

The one I circled looks like where the gps antenna runs. You will need a couple little adapters to connect the factory wire to the head unit. They are pictured at the bottom of this thread.

I think the light sensor is on front side of rear view mirror.

Well, I installed my new head unit yesterday and now my truck doesn’t ‘have HVAC. At all.
Went thru the menu and there is no truck Hi or Truck lo option (after inputting 7890).

I think my HU needs a firmware update or file from Phoenix. I’ve emailed my order no. And issue.

Will update as soon as it’s fixed.

Where you set tundra hi/lo make sure protocol it's set to bnr w/air . If it is, change it to default, save and reboot, then change back to bnr w/air. Most people also have to have setting in same area set to Chinese to make sure air comes back on immediately when you start the truck.

Settings button at top> system info> long press the screen on the right that has a bunch of version info and number pad will pop up after a few seconds. Input 7890> touch where it says Tundra Lo or high then get to next screen

    20190804_113146.jpg

Set BNRAir and Chinese. If already BNR AIR change to default and use Save and Reboot at bottom. Them change back to BNR AIR and reboot again.

Here is the mod for auto lights.
And attached is the light sensor, which is that small round part in the center of the dash, in the center of the snap out center section

It looks like the gps antenna is mounted right below that. I know the wire for GPS is strapped and runs towards the speaker grill separate from the other wires. Must be mounted right there with the speaker. If the wire he is messing with runs back and towards the passenger a pillar, it is for the XM antenna.

Post 2606 are the parts needed to mate the factory GPS. I actually didn’t buy the brass adapter. I cut and spliced Pheonix’s with the Maestro, working fine since last Oct.

Ye that is 100% without a doubt the light sensor I know for a fact cuz I added it and changed my headlight stalk to add auto lights to my sr5 was pretty easy but there's but there's no doubt that's what it is say nothing else in there when I popped the speaker grill, that's why I asked seems to be a common theme with these trucks is the wires there just not used for whatever feature

Do the climate controls come on with this unit when using auto start? Specifically the 12volt solutions one? I read a post somewhere a guy said his a/c didn't come on when using auto start

As long as you have the settings correct, it will come on with whatever was running before you shut the truck off

Ok cool that's good news I was thinking he might be right cuz when I auto start everything in the truck starts but the actual headunit is blank until I get in and at least turn the key to ACC position so since the Android unit has climate controls on the screen I thought engine would start but headunit and a/c may not come on at all till key was turned, if that makes any sense at all

I think I understand what you're saying, but I can use my head unit and adjust the a/c before I even put the key in. It powers on when I remote start my truck.

I have this PX6 installed in my 2016 SR5. Problem I am having that I can't figure out is with the mic. I read that they made it better with this unit but I keep getting told I have a squealing noise in the background and that is really hard to hear me. I saw somewhere that you can add an external mic for better quality but can't find it anywhere now and don't see on the unit where I can add or plug one in. Anyone done this. know how to or if it's possible? I am getting tired of having to switch to speaker on phone for people to be able to hear me better. I knew I was not going to have factory quality sound through this mic but didn't think it would be this bad...especially with it having the newer 5.0 blue-tooth on it.

So I bought this due to seeing it here and liking the look and possibilities with it. However the head unit will not connect the car play feature when I plug in iphone. It will charge the phone but just will not start up car play no matter which port I connect usb to. Carplay will also not work through the factory usb even though it is connected to the usb connector to the head unit that came with. It will only work if I plug directly into usb extension that comes out of the head unit. Have you had same issue? Possible fix?

I don’t have a CarPlay dongle, I think the only fix for now is to disconnect from the factory USB and have that 2nd cable hanging freely to connect your phone like the 1st one that’s connected to the splitter. I suspect using the supplied connector to the factory USB port lowers the output amperage, same as there is insufficient amps coming out of the 4 ports to power the dongle, not 100% sure though.

Mic BT fixed in the Settings a while ago. Temp controls not sure for upper trim Tundras, facebook group is the most up to date. You can retain your physical controls if you go Dasaiti instead. Not my preference, there's distracted driving laws where I am. I prefer Tesla style, it's a bit more incognito lower and in the dash, not that I'm watching and driving as I play content that my passengers/kids watch, including YT vids I listen to.

    55C6941F-D605-40AB-8742-9BD52DA6829D.jpg

And I prefer the cleaner looking, bigger screen real estate.

    IMG_0397-2-2.jpg

Neither is wrong. I'd avoid the brand new Tesla style PX6 version though, while the CPU makes everything a bit faster, it's not fast boot and has some software growing pains to be sorted out.

At this time, I prefer Phoenix's PX3 fastboot unit for the reasons I stated, that's my actual dash in the 2nd pic. In the future, I'd like a better IPS screen, faster processor, more RAM without integration issues.

You're best to evaluate what's important to you. Some people would rather have a well known car stereo brand and they're not interested in these android tablets joined to the truck at all. Your call.

Not really an alternative. Well I guess for some it is. These name brand units are going to be crippled in what apps that can be installed from the play store. What can be run when. Etc..

These android unbranded units will do just about anything YOU want them to do. Not what the manufacturer wants you to do. Or their lawyers and their insurance companies for that matter. It is the wild west right now with theses units.

Ya, kinda apples and oranges. The Sony is a nice unit, more like a budget Halo alternative.

But most branded units don't stream or play movies/videos off USB sticks, let you install whatever tablet apps you want pretty much. Like letting my kids play this on long drives:

Like being very limited in what nav app to use. Who are the preferred vendors for online streaming.

Think Entune providing an app that let's you buy movie tickets. What a crock of shit.
