How is an aftermarket amp hooked up to Telsa Android Head Unit and what parts are needed? I have upgraded my speakers now looking to replace the factory amp. Have the Gen 1 Telsa for 14 Tundra

Thanks for the info. What about the speaker wiring itself from the factory amp do I need to splice anything?

If you do aftermarket amp, you have to run rca cables to the new amp (front, rear, sub) if you don't replace the amp, and add the Tesla radio, it's plug and play behind the radio with stock wiring

Ok great thanks for your input. I just didn't want to buy any extra parts if I didn't need to.

    JBL or nonJBL?

Either or, you’ll be pleasantly surprised going from stock HU 22W RMS to max 50Wx4 in the Tesla HU or most aftermarket HU’s.

NonJBL is a bit trickier adding a sub, you definitely need a new amp, or if powered sub, you can tap the rear speaker wires.

Tons of info. Looking to buy my first Tundra soon. This will be my first mod. Any chance for a Sticky?

After reading every post, it mainly sounds like a plug and play except the few Amazon items for connecting factory GPS.

Quirks is part of the experience but overall people seem happy after they did it. I'm just not a huge fan of nothing the truck part in case the factory one is going back in.

Could you potentially setup blind spot cameras in small PIP on this screen?

I checked on my drive this morning, there doesn’t seem to be PIP for the camera view, and you would have to toggle between SIDE and FRONT when driving as there’s only the 2 extra ports to dedicate installing 2 side cameras (one most people use for a front cam).

Don't worry about notching it...IF you put the factory unit back in, you won't be able to see the notch.

There could be some downloadable programs from Play Store you might check, also Phoenix accessories https://www.phoenixautomotiveinc.com/collections/accessories makes a push button cam splitter for $30 and a $10 wireless cam that has 165' reach that would be great for a enclosed trailer or girls locker room. i am real close to that decision as well. i have had it for a couple weeks now and its just not polished enough. too slow launching things and with technology that really irritates me. did they give you any issues? did you just tell them it wasnt what you wanted?

Rpm never worked there answer is disable it. heating controls worked when they wanted too, rebooted when it wanted too, shorted a couple times killing battery. I was done with that unit just as bad as a android tablet.Everything is disable it that's not the right answer not for that money.Probably a bad one but just not for me i want to hit a button and not wait 10 seconds for it to process it.

Wow that’s a shotty experience. It’s definitely not for everyone.

FWIW on Gen 3 Tundras, Settings>Advanced Settings>Toggle Top Car>Save gets RPM working. On Gen 2 Tundra, an OBD adapter is required. I don’t have the other issues, it works great every time I get in my truck, and I have a front cam now. Almost all problems are answered quickly in the Facebook Group, I wouldn’t bother going to the company for support.

Not to tout it 100%, improvements? It does feel like an iPad 4 in terms of lag, and could use a better IPS screen with better viewing angles. New Android HU’s are already out with PX5 chips (ours is an older PX3).

Has anyone used/installed the PX6 units?
Do they still have the same issues as the PX3 units?

I ordered last Monday form Trinity auto and i received it on Friday, so the shipping is fast right now. I used the code form previous posts and it was $550 out the door, free shipping. It was shipped form China through DHL. I assume it is the PX3. does anyone know if there is full access to GPS (entering location) and watching movies (from hard drive) while driving? if not is there a work around?

Just ordered mine from Trinity and code still worked. No option for expedited shipping.

Did yours ship from stateside and you got in 5 days?

Phoenix radios is at $899 on the same unit and discount code doesn't work. Guess it is two outlets by same people with two target markets.

And damn you all to hell for making me spend my money on this. . Lol :bananadance::bowdown:

I haven't even gotten my permanent plate yet!

Ya, there was no option for expedited shipping and I was prepared for a long wait. They sent me a confirmation email the same day I think, then 2 days later I got an email with a tracking number from DHL.

I checked the tracking number and it was in Hong Kong. 2 days later it was in Los Angeles and the next day I had it in my hands.

Gotta give props to the company on that. Now if I can just get some time for the install I will see if it is all good. There was no damage to the box or the unit.

    * we all figured we spent our money so you should spend yours too, kinda like a pay it forward thing ;)
