Did you have to get that adapter thing to make CarPlay work on an Android Unit?

well i was very excited today because the tesla unit arrived. longest few hours of work ever after i got the notification it was delivered. so i raced home and started install. i didn't even put it into the dash before i powered on to make sure i had the correct gps cable attached and not the xm radio one. i noticed the resolution and color sucked, but when i tilted it in a different direction it came back to normal tablet resolution and color. i figured i had a loose wire so i unclicked the whole harness and redid it but it still was not good. i still decided to mount it because maybe the position of it in the dash it would be ok. no go :( i am disappointed. i emailed trinity so i am now awaiting to see how i can return this. i'm unsure if i'll get another. maybe look for other options or wait until quality seems a bit better with these.

Have you tried turning on full brightness? 3rd icon top left indicates you have it pretty dim. Go to Settings>Dimmer and adjust your Day and Night levels. When you turn on headlights, it activates Night mode, I like that about 50%. During the day, I like it 100%. Tapping that icon dims it in intervals in Day mode. The icon does not adjust in Night mode.

Note if you wear polarized sunglasses, the screen will be very dim, adding a plastic screen shield will help that.

i did have the brightness higher but as it was night at this point i was tired of blinding myself haha. you can see the poor picture quality in the add on youtube. look where its transitioning from blue to while its all grainy... its not because my phone takes potato pictures it was that bad haha. it was frustrating because my phone kept blending the colors and making it look better than it actually was when i was taking pictures and a video so i can show trinityauto.

Hmm, upon closer look, I see what you’re saying. Resolution is 800p which isn’t bad as an iPhone XR is 720p viewed much closer, but that blotchiness is really noticeable in the ad. Does content look like that too? Colors, contrast, highlights, etc seem off, almost like it’s on the wrong color profile. I’d also try crowd sourcing an answer on the fb page, could be a setting in Advanced options, the one with code 666888 to enter, I don’t recall my screen like that and my kids watch a lot of movies and youtube vids. Unless you do want to return it, sometimes it’s easier to install a straightforward HU from Kenwood, Pioneer, no tinkering.

yes all the colors are washed out even while watching videos or even the tundra start picture. i really wanted this head unit as i love android capabilities in the car and no other unit out there appeals to me. im awaiting a response from trinity about it this morning so hopefully we can come to a resolution.
Yeah like you said i was looking forward to having this be something my kids can watch and keep quiet on long trips

i'm not sure i took it back out last night. i would be inclined to say no because if i tilt the screen a certain way the screen resolution clears up or if i pull gently on the inside plastic out toward the doors the screen glitches and goes back to normal resolution and colors but as soon as i release pressure it goes back. thats why i think the digitizer is damaged in some way.

Wonder what the reason for kenwood, alpine and pioneer not jumping into the huge Tesla style screen market. I want this head unit. Been contemplating it for 6 months now but all the issues + adapters and dongles just to get some basic features makes me question it. Why would the big companies not want to fill this market? Some people literally buy Tesla’s for the screen. Sucks that the only option out is cheap Chinese quality or a trusted brand but only offers like 9 inches

i cannot like this comment enough. i would pay for a quality head unit of this size from a major manufacturer. i love big screens and i will always upgrade for a bigger screen. my home computer setup is a 34 inch ultrawide monitor with 2 24 inch monitors on the sides.

Maybe the screen is so big that they can’t make it universal enough to fit enough vehicles to make it cost effective or something. I don’t know but I want the damn thing just rather have a trusted brand that’s plug and play and works flawless

Man! Why can't they make that for 2nd Gens? I'd re-sell my XAV-X5000 in a heartbeat for that.

Does it just run off your phone or ?? I see you got Carplay working on it, so I am curious what it takes to install.

Does it have RCA Pre-outs? These are required to install a PAC to interface with my Factory JBL Amp.

CarPlay is using my iPhone (need to buy adapter), but this is basically an android device. Yes it has preouts (sub, mid, front, rear)

Have you looked at the System setting to see if your bit color depth is a 6?

I came a across something on 4pda (its like the Russian forum of Xda Developers) they mentioned something like "acid colors" not sure if it's an issue you have, but it worth a shot.

Install the apk. The menu of games load like an Android app, choose the game, start playing.

The controllers connect to the Phoenix Android HU via the 2 provided USB ports. Map the controller buttons once within the simulator’s settings the first time you play.

Does your eonon have USB ports?

Here’s a different one, using ClassicBoyEmulator+rom in the App Store:

That looks very interesting... I've had the Tesla style unit in my previous Tundra. I had a first gen, then the fast-boot version with buttons. I liked most things about them, but not all. The bluetooth for hands-free calling was horrible. It could be fixed (so I was told ) with additional components. Have you tried calling over bluetooth? if so, How is the call quality?

Seems that it pulls it over for the higher end models. I have an upgraded SR5 model
