To be honest, I don’t Wi-Fi much. I mainly play YouTube rips and music loaded on several USBs. For Nav, TomTom is a local file. I haven’t had much desire to Bluetooth my iPhone music or get a CarPlay dongle. The odd time I might want real time traffic is when I hotspot Google Maps, or sometimes I let my older kid Spotify in the passenger seat.

Netflix works...partially. The pause/rewind/FF/subtitles menu is hidden by the HVAC controls unfortunately. Watching a video is fine though.

Too bad we can’t save NF shows like our iPads etc, for those of us who don’t have unlimited data and can download at home

I just received a Gen2 with knobs version for my '14 Platinum. The only concern I have before I install it is the gps compass antenna it came with. That's not necessary to install correct? I haven't seen any one really mention running any antenna wire through the pillar to attach to the roof. Or do you just hook it up and mount it somewhere under the dash?

You have a choice, use their GPS antenna and tunnel it up the dash pillar whatever, or use your truck's superior gps antenna by buying this Maestro adapter (you only need the one in the middle) and a SMA-SMB male-male connector. I'm in Canada so you probably have different purchase links.

    Screen Shot 2018-12-12 at 5.01.46 PM.jpg Screen Shot 2018-12-12 at 5.02.10 PM.jpg

I skipped the SMA-SMB connector and spliced the Maestro with the one that came with the HU.

Sweet, thanks for the help. After researching the price of a little sma male to smb plug, I think I may be splicing as well...

Ya, it's pretty easy to splice. I made the mistake and ordered from ebay for 99c, I'll probably get it next year via China boat lol. We don't have a direct supplier on Amazon like you guys. No idea on impedance sorry.

Don't forget to notch out a bigger rectangle the middle top backside of the HU, and trim the truck's mating side, post 1899 and 1920, will avoid any future screen separating problems if any.

You must mean this area, I see where they already notched it. I should take a bit more off?

Ya, that part, looks like Phoenix has listened to the fb group and made it bigger. I think I also cut mine deeper. Anyway, on the truck side, trim it. They serve no purpose except to clear each other. You don't want the hanging part on the truck side to wedge into the digitizer. There's a few people who separated their screens that way.

Do the latest versions have siriusxm functionality or do you still have to get a separate receiver?

Got the Gen2 with knobs installed in my 14 Tundra Platinum and spent all day tinkering with settings. The main problem I had all day is the sound quality was awful. No matter what source I used be it radio, flash drive, bluetooth, all sounded heavily distorted, even at a low volume of 10+. I found that if you have the JBL factory system (in which case you will have access to the amp settings), you must go into 'console', then 'amp info', then scroll down to 'Cur Vol' and change its value to somewhere around 40-50.

After that, you can adjust all your bass/treble/gain values to your desire, but that's that main setting you want to change first for those who are having the sound quality/distortion issue like I was.

    Now it sounds freaking amazing...

The max you can go on Cur Vol I believe is 63, on the first gen if it was set to 63 it was a little loud, second gen w/buttons is just right set at 63 for me. It is amazing what sound you can get out of the stock JBL speakers. All Toyota had to do was give a little more power from its head unit, was it a lawsuit or politics? We will never know.

I trimmed radio but didn’t know about trimming truck. Cracked my screen right down the middle when I installed it.
