Depending on what accessories you have , trace it back to be sure it goes to the module.. or passenger side steps dont work..

Do you live where they put salt on the roads? That was pretty bad

Western NYS, between Buffalo & Rochester. Much salt.. Yup had to use penetrating oil and pry bars to remove.

I’m working on it now but it’s not going well. No matter what I do I can’t get the step to come down.

There are two little screws that I thought hold the step on in the pictures but the step won’t budge or come off.

I have to get the step down or off to expose the motor. I can see the motor but I can’t get my hands on it

    any suggestions??

Those small screws hold the step to the mechanism.

You know what… let me go take a look at mine and I’ll get right back to you.

    well I can’t see a damned thing.

If you look at the motor, which is admittedly hard to get at, there’s a plastic cover on it. I would pull the plastic cover and look to see if I could find a way to turn the motor mechanically. If not I would try to loosen the motor enough to pull it backwards and off the gear. That is the only thing holding the step so it will fall if you’re able to do so.

    Thanks for talking a look.

I see where those little screws should hold the step on and that might be true but I cannot get the stuff off for anything. I even tried to tap lightly with a mallet and it won’t budge for anything when those little screws are off.

In the end I had to take the mounting bolts off of the frame, all four of them to just get the unit to fall down where I could access the motor.

For mine, the problem is the step was stuck in the “up” position. That leaves practically no room to work or access the motor at all.

I’ll do a full write up with pictures a little later and describe the process.

I was afraid you would have to remove it from the frame. I removed my front hinge assembly to replace the motor... thanks the updates

That's exactly what I had to do to access the motor.. remove both frame bolts from the front and remove one from the rear to allow access to the motor. once i was able to remove the motor, the step would pivot freely. The motor was frozen up and would not allow any movement. I think that's what made it so hard to remove the step (which i could never get to come off)
