See if Kenwood is available? I was late on the Alpine sale but did score the deal on the Kenwood (like it a lot as it has the actual volume knob)

It does it with both wifi on and off.

Another nagging issue is the clock still won't update on my 11". Shows as --:--.
It worked when I initially installed the unit, stopped when I disconnected the battery a few weeks later to install an amp.

I have 3 of these units (2x 9" and the 11") and the other two have time data.

Reset the Bluetooth and CarPlay setup on her phone. And make sure it is fully updated. Mine has been flawless since install.

I have had this head unit in my cart for over a week and I keep getting cold feet. Other than the massive display I am trying to convince myself why I should buy this head unit. I have a 2020 TRD Pro with the stock sound system. After going to Disneyland with the family a few weeks ago and digging the huge touchscreen on the rental SUV it got me wanting to upgrade.

What I do enjoy about the stock head unit is that it has a stand alone GPS separate from CarPlay/android auto. Also, I enjoy how the the directions show up at the speedometer/cluster screen when using the factory GPS. Other than a larger display and the cool factor, can anyone else convince me to pull the trigger on this? I’m assuming better sound quality from the amplified JBL speakers? It also appears I can sell my FRAC harness and just add a front camera to this unit so that’s nice as well.

Is it worth the extra almost $1400?

I have the 9inch Halo for the wife's 4Runner and the Kenwood my 2020 Tundra Pro. I'm glad I upgraded both radios but I definitely wouldn't have paid $1500 to do it.

I also prefer the Kenwood over the Halo - I like the built in knob, I like that magically adds the curvy lines to your backup camera when you back up and that when you go below a certain speed limit, the front camera pops on. I also think it's cool that you can add blind spot cameras to it.

The Alpine is also nice but so far seems a little flakier than the Kenwood (even though I had some sound issues with it).

Catch one on sale or look on Facebook Marketplace for people reselling the ones they bought for cheap.

Thanks for your input. I’m looking at the plug and play package trail grid pro has. They have both the alpine and the Sony 9500es. At first I was sold on the Sony.

Well it looks like it’s finally over. I checked Best Buy at 2 different locations this week and they both showed me their screens. Kenwood and Alpine are all full price, in store or warehouse doesn’t matter. They are no longer reduced.

Anyone try Best Buy lately for more of the Alpine iLX-F511? They have some coming in and I went to the store last night to try and buy 1. I asked the teller to use the SKU# and not the website, which it looked like they did correctly, but it pulled up at full retail.

To anyone not able to get the TPMS to work on the head unit with the idatalink / Maestro -

I was having trouble getting my tire pressures to display on the HU despite them initially working upon install. A couple months went by with them never giving me a reading. The other day - I tried to hook up Techstream to look at some ECU data and wasn’t able to connect. I had to reset the truck ECUs by unhooking the battery for about 10 minutes. When I hooked it back up, not only was I able to connect to Techstream but my tire pressure readings were now displayed.

Long story short, if you aren’t getting tire pressure readings try resetting the truck ECU then make sure the OBD communication is enabled on the head unit and you should be good to go.

On the similar topic - my tire locations on dash match the actual tire locations, but on the alpine they are in the different positions. There is a menu option to learn tire locations in alpine/maestro menu, it asks you to begin releasing the pressure on one tire but then just does nothing. I have lowered it down significantly, but nothing happened on the alpine. I wonder if anybody was able to figure it out.

I figured I do not need a way to read my TPMS pressure in 2 places so I don't care about the Toyota one unless the Alpine could do the spare also

Yeah, I agree with you. Don't need it, but if the function is there, but doesn't work properly it just bugs me

2014-2017 - we just get the warning light - no pressure readouts without the Alpine. Also appreciate the Alpine giving temperatures as well.

I heard that the mix up was actually at Best Buy and not an Alpine screw up. That's my story and what I heard. It was a shit load of profit they lost on

Does anyone have the latest firmware zip file downloaded on their computer they could try to share with me through dropbox or similar file share? I don't know what the damn problem is, but I cannot successfully get the file to download. It gets to 99% and fails every time. The PDF instructions download no problem. I have tried using another browser, I have tried my wife's computer and it does the same thing. I just don't understand if their file sharing doesn't like our connection or what.

The latest firmware (6.0.000) isn’t even available on their support site. Let me put together a quick walkthrough on getting OTA updates to work and that should let you pull down the latest directly to the head unit. Assuming you have WiFi or a hotspot you can hit where your truck is.

Okay, thanks. I was struggling to keep it connected to my WiFi last night (when attempting OTA), but I could drive closer to the end of the house with the router if need be.

I took this unit out of an SR5 with non JBL and will be reinstalling into a Pro with JBL.

Anyone know if I have some different connections to make or any other considerations I should plan for. I know I can find this on the wiring diagrams I just haven’t gotten that far yet.

If you’re using a Maestro, you’ll have a few different connections because of the amp in the TRD Pro, but everything should be with the kit.
