Alpine ILX-F511. Game Changer

Had abt a 45 minute wait in a parking lot today (waiting for someone to call me back to pick up some work crap).

Watching youtube videos on the screen to pass the time was well worth all the effort of installing this thing.

 

Yep, just ordered my Kenwood two hours ago. The guy at the desk pulled out his phone (bestbuy app) when I asked him to check the price on a SKU... had to let him know I'm not talking about the bestbuy.com price... then he pulled it up on his register PC and came up at $465.99

Should be delivered in 2-3 days. Thanks to everyone who spread the word on this!

Anybody know if they have other audio gear being blown out like this?
Amps, speakers etc?

Given that my Tacoma install has turned into a bit of a shitshow, I might be down to do speakers, an amp and maybe a sub (I have that totally useless X sub between the back seats).

 

Just purchased the 509, they said they are out of the 511. Thx a ton for the heads up, getting it installed by Best Buy (free) next week

 

I think there biggest favor a new installer can do for themselves is buy the Maestro RR2 and all needed adapters and cables from Crutchfield, and then pay them $25 for their wiring service, so it's ready to plug and play when you receive it all.

Ok cool, thx for the heads up. I’ll dig thru the threads to make sure everything I need is included. I paid $150ish total for parts/adapters, I’ll make sure everything is included before going thru w it. Unfortunately I don’t have extra time right now to do an install.

 

Or don’t read the instructions because “You can figure it out”

Yes they are close. The good way to confirm what is the wrong one is by tracing the cable: the one that you don't need goes to the front left side under the dash to the factory gps antenna, it is mounted on the metal plate left of the front center speaker

By the way this is pretty good place to mount the alpine gps, there is enough space on that metal plate to stick the alpine gps antenna if you can get there with your hands

 

Did you do something specific to have your OEM unit die? I just want to make sure I don't do the exact thing cause then I'll have to buy the same Alpine unit I've been eyeing for a year now....

 

Nothing. The JBL just gave me a white screen and nothing else. Factory unit is ridiculously expensive, no reason not to upgrade at that point.

 

I went to Best Buy to try to order the alpine stereo, the $300.99 price tag came up but it is out of stock so I guess I’m out of luck

I guess it's possible they don't have anymore period, but I'd ask someone else. Best Buy isn't commission, so some employees don't give a fk about helping you.

I would try someone else. If it's truly no longer available, buy the Kenwood

Damn. I'm too late. Both the 10" Kenwood and 11" Alpine are out of stock (company wide) based on a SKU# search. I did call in to have them search vs physically go into the store. I didn't try to buy over the phone, just wanted them to check their system / inventory.
