Hello new member I have a 2018 Tundra looking to upgrade radio so as to have Apple play and have fallen in love with the Halo by Alpine. Radio dealer wants $1600 for radio installed I can but for half price but am concerned about installing and wiring has anyone done that?

You may want to rethink the Halo. From what I've seen the screen resolution looks like crap.

Just go to a regular audio shop if you aren't comfortable installing it yourself. No need to go to the stealership.

    And welcome.

If available from Crutchfield, they have great customer service, and can recommend / provide needed parts, harnesses, dash kits, etc....

Im hopeful of the remote possibility that once the new OEM HU drops with these features this year the aftermarket will quickly support swaps and use in current vehicles.

The halo definitely looks BA but like mentioned before resolution sucks. It has car play but not wireless like they where promoting at first! Has tons of features but to enable them u need a different module for everything u want to add so that means $$. If ur just in it for the looks of it and the audio part then it’s a hell of a unit. Done forget it doesn’t have a cd or dvd slot either

I’d steer away from wireless CarPlay until they can iron out the bugs. I’ve got a hardwired Apple CarPlay system and it’s finicky sometimes (software related finicky-ness) and would assume the complaints about wireless are valid. The sound quality is also night and day between when my phone is playing music hardwired versus wirelessly thru Bluetooth.
