Also winter will be here soon so the optional tailgate butt warmers that Ford so graciously offers is a plus when waiting for that tow truck.....hee...hee...

I suppose that is worse then the short walk home from the dealer when I take my 14 mo truck in for its 2nd recall.

Formans and crew trucks for us use to be gas burner f-250’s. The motor is solid, it’s everything else around it that gives trouble. Not to mention they’re some thirsty sons of guns.

Its a tough one, tundra pissed me off about
Their trans cooler being ripped off and their advertised 17xx of payload on their website on the CM is really 1385?

If it was me And wanted the f250 I’d go diesel. My father in law bought one today and I’m thinking of selling my tundra for an F350 platinum now.

You need to catch up with only 2 recalls. After the TSB for the blinker lights I am on recall number 4. Wouldn’t change a thing as I know it won’t leave me stranded...

If you plan on daily driving your truck, don’t go diesel.

I drive a 2015 F-250 CC SB 6.2L truck at work. Hasn’t been a bad truck (XL model), but the motor output is dated in comparison to 2020 numbers. I’ve towed some decent loads with it. My recommendation is test drive a couple trucks and maybe even tow with a few of them (have a trailer on standby loaded).

I would also stop comparing anything you might be looking at to your parents 2006 DMax truck. You will be disappointed even with the biggest gas V8 you can buy.

Not at all, i don’t tow, but if I did have any serious need to tow I’d do the exact same thing. But I wouldn’t half ass it, I’d get an F-350, 8’ bed and full crew cab.

Used Tundras are getting premium $$$ so I’d take the money and run.

I would read through this thread. Sure get an HD but I wouldn’t get a Ford. Have had several friends and family of friends with a lot of issues. Seems like the Chevy/GMs do a little better. A good friend has a Ram 2500 which he is happy with but has only had it a year so no issues yet.

The turn signals, and now a fuel pump defect that can cause the truck to shut down unexpectedly.

As posted on a couple other threads I just did the same thing. My needs changed and I jumped up in to the 3/4 ton world. I have been nothing but thoroughly impressed with the new 6.6l gas. I drove my Tundra for 2 years, 51k miles, for only a couple thousand. Still got a pretty good deal for the times on a 2500 HD.

If going Ford I would give it more time if you want 7.3l gas. They are having some problems..... 6.2l is solid but pretty dated as far as power goes.

These new gas trucks fill a niche in the 6k-10k pound range. The new gas motors are night and day compared to older gas renditions in these trucks. If I was towing $10k or more I would go diesel.

We have a fleet of 50+ Fords, 10 or so Denali 1/2 & 3/4 tons. The Fords have been very subpar the last 3 or 4 years. The GM'a have been hands down better and does not matter if it is gas or diesel.

I am really liking the new 6.6l gas 2500 HD so far. Build quality is very good and it is an awesome truck so far!

Some good, some bad when comparing to the Tundra but they really are 2 different trucks....

That sucks, but at least Toyota is being forth coming. All manufacturers have recalls.

I mean could always go the diesel route and delete the emissions controls off. Depending on where your located.

Still technically illegal, regardless of location. More concerning would be the lack of warranty support.

This, should’ve added that little caveat. If I was to buy to delete, I’d go a couple years older. No way I’d delete a brand new one off the lot.

My neighbor just brought home a F250 Tremor package. It’s a really nice looking truck. He test drove both the gas and the diesel and said the gasser was very underperforming. The diesel according to him has over a 1000 ft lbs of torque. Damn!
But, he said the list was just under 80 grand. Insane!

@Redcon41318 To answer your question. Go for it so your needs are met. However, make sure you take a test drive towing your trailer. We have all ranges of new (2017+) gas engine Fords at work and none of them tow well from a power standpoint. Perhaps they are gov't special and suck for that reason. They also suck lots of fuel. So go with the new 7.3. But, just make sure to test drive it first including towing something...

Edit: We don't have any 7.3, just 6.2 and 6.8. The 6.2 F250 2wd tows the best out of F250,F350,F450 we have. Diesel probably worth it.
