    Working on it!
Wow...that's a good one. I've got a Delta 52" cabinet saw and never put flesh in the blade but have had some good kickbacks to the gut. Sounds like you need some outfeed support - I don't have any either, but use a straightedge (either my Bora for 48" cuts or the homemade one for 96" cuts) and my hand saw with a good blade to make cuts on sheet goods to a manageable size to use on the Delta.

Glad it wasn't worse...to be quite honest, that scares the shit out of me!

Sure sorry to hear about your accident. I’m hoping that you can get full recovery quickly. Sometimes the nerve endings get confused and it takes a little while to get back to “normal”.
    Ask me how I know

No plastic bag over the hand, and keeping it elevated? Between my injury and 2 more surgeries I did this many times.

Cleaning the hand is about to to get gross, if it hasn’t yet. The amount of dead skin that comes off an unused hand is unreal. :puke:

Hope it heals well for you, nerves included.

I too cut that nerve when I did hvac years ago on a furnace, cut the artery and the nerve next to it for my index finger. I had nerve repair it took a long time for it to feel normal again. Good luck!

OUCH! Wow , Sorry to hear that... being a Machinist, I can sympathize with you (40 plus years now) working with Sharp tools, Sharp metal pieces, Big Dangerous machines, etc.. with tolerances plus or minus.001 There's an "Old Saying" , I came up with awhile ago...

"The way you can tell a "Great Machinist"- "He still has 10 fingers after 40 years"
I still have 10 fingers, lets both keep it that way !

id say it took me atleast a year for it to be close to normal. However I didn’t get the repair done right away so that could have slowed down the process.

I’ve had a table saw accident, although not nearly as severe. I do however have a .125” saw kerf through the tip of the middle finger on my left hand (just flesh, not bone thankfully). It took quite a while for the feeling to return, and when it did the feeling was pain. Eventually I regained full use of the finger...five or more years. It’s been more than 30 years now, an I can still predict the weather.

This gave me a reason to study industrial accidents. In almost every case they were typified by three characteristics:

    1. Performing boring repetitive tasks, being tired, in a hurry, and/or preoccupied
    2. Doing something fundamentally risky or unsafe in the first place

    and my favorite...

    3. Having a premonition or visualization of the accident just BEFORE it happened, experiencing that eerie slow motion of time that I think of as the “Oh Shit” reaction.

In my case I believe I started to move my hand away from the spinning blade before my finger slipped in, preventing it from being severed entirely.
