Duratracs are amazing tires in a lot of ways, but they ride terribly and are obscenely loud.

Love the duratracs in the snow and rain so far. Can’t hear any noise due to the trd dual exhaust. I’m California Michelin Ltx are probably the best, but outside like in Idaho I love the duratracs.

Toyo Open Country AT-IIIs. A bit noisy but not enough that it bothers me that much. And they perform like champs. I'm probably 3 months away from a new set, that's where it gets good and painful.

^This...I love my Falken Wildpeak 275/70R18s. Truck rides better than stock. Better handling and really no major road noise. I test drove a Silverado with Duratracs and wow were they crazy load and stiff...everyone is different, you’ll get tons of different opinions. It comes down to personal preference, if you don’t like them don’t buy them.

Another vote for the Cooper AT3 XLTs. Had them on for about a week now, and compared to the stock Michelins they make the truck handle and feel so much better. Sure, its not a plush cloud ride, but it certainly corners and tracks better than before. Haven't gotten off the pavement yet, but I'm certain they're better than the AT2s and plenty for my needs. The Michelins are a good tire, very quiet, adequate for light off-duty work, but I think being a P rated tire, they were just overpowered by the weight of these trucks.
The Coopers are not harsh by any means, but they are certainly more surefooted than the Michelins.

Can you get a plush, silent tire for these trucks? Sure, but I'd rather have the firm, confident ride of a more robust tire, even at the cost of a little noise. Either way, in no way do I think all AT tires ride like crap... some do, but most don't.

Something tells me this is a load range issue, not a “all terrain” issue.

This^^^. The way I look at it is to determine which tire load/wear rating is best for your particular use and buy accordingly. An E might be too much, a P too soft, Many tire manufacturers make tires load range C & D. Too many folks determine their tire choice based upon purely how kuul a tire design "looks" but end up disappointed in the end.

Ive had E rated BFG KO2s on my Scout, Taco, and the Tundra is next once the stock tires wear down. If I wanted a cushy ride, Id call your mom.
Joking.. they do make the trucks a tad stiffer IMO so youre not wrong but they look cool, hook up great off road/in snow, and I tow a lot so I can deal.

I have my E rated tires aired down to 40 up front and 37 in the rear. Ride isn't bad at all. Not overly firm. It's when E rated tires are aired up towards top end psi is when the ride goes to shit. Not towing very much at all and hauling heavy loads much either.

I had KO2's on my 2015 when I got it and thought I liked them but then decided to get new rubber when I started back on the road for work and went with the Wildpeak in stock size but with a little trepidation too as they seem potentially to not be as smooth, grippy or sure-footed as the BFG were.

Exactly the opposite happened in every way on my truck, the Falken are just superior in every way so far!
Much quieter and more solid and more sure handling in all conditions including insane South Florida Rain.
Amazing performance gain in construction site mud and trash and varying terrain and somehow much lighter weight too and zippier performance on the highway.

The only way they are not as good as the KO2 is people sneering at them as everyone seems to love the BFG whether they have tried them or not.

I put the Cooper A3 on my Element and they seemed too aggressive at first which is really why I wanted them but they too have been an amazing choice and one to consider for the Tundra as well maybe next time.

I also have had several sets of RevoII on 3 different Tundras and absolutely loved them but when I tried Load Range E on my 2007 Tundra DC they were for sure different than the lighter duty tires that I have had before, not better or worse but certainly not the same just different.

I need an AT tire and Tow and drive in all conditions and the Falkens are amazing for me so far!

KO2 is IMO, the most overrated AT tire on the market. I had to learn my lesson with multiple sets.

Been on 3 Generations of what started out as the the Michelin M/S, then the M/S2, and now the Defender LTX. They are all the same tire with newer improvements. They all outlasted their 6 year life with tons of tread still left compared to the miles on them. Great on sand, snow, and all street driving. I stay away from mud.

Speaking of mud, I put two back to back sets of ‘mud tires’ on this same truck in 2003-05 and they were LOUD. They wore and handled like crap. Could never be balanced properly. Basically a waste of money.

You’ll get branded with having ‘GranPa’ tires owning the Michelins, but they are quiet. They last a long time and can tow/haul really well. They do ride firm being E Rated, but they handle well in corners/braking. Good tires will help your suspension last longer as well.

‘GranPa’ tires are all I have used for the past 30 years, Michelin M/S, then the M/S2, and A/T2 on my '07. Michelin M/S, then the M/S2, and XPS Traction on my '02. I recently put a set of Defender LTX on my mothers Tacoma... Michelin continues to earn my business.

My Land Cruiser had Michelans when I got it and I was never a real fan of the way it drove and I yanked them and installed another set of the RevoII and it was all as I had hoped it would be when I bought the truck!

I am also pretty sure that the tires evolve throughout the life of the tire and unless you buy them new you have no real way to tell how they will be or should be anyway.
I know Michelan are said to last literally forever and so there has to be some point at which they are on the road but nowhere near their prime at the same time and can give the driver a negative impression of a good tire because of it.
I have read the same about the BFG.

So YMMV literally in this case!

    The great tire Debate continues.

    :argue:

Put some mud terrain tires on for awhile then go back the A/T. They’ll be quiet and ride wonderful after that.

I’ve had a lot of different tires in my life and so for the Cooper AT3 xlt out performs all of them on and off road. Snow, mud and rain.

If you don't take it off the pavement, especially in mud, then just go get some Michelins

Same here. On my Tacoma,, I replaced the stock BFG rugged trails with Terra Grapplers, which looked awesome but sucked in every other category (need to be meticulous with short interval rotations), then the BFG A/T K02 and they were great. Almost as smooth as the Rugged Trails and had great traction and tread wear. Awesome tire all-around.
