I have a Viofo A119. Here's a vid of a dickhead garbage truck driver. Sent this vid to his company. They suspended him and required him to attend extra driver training. LOL

    I have the DR750S and it's awesome. From what I've heard/read the 4k isn't worth the extra $$ though.

The DR900 doesn't perform as well as the 750.low light performance is horrible compared to the 750 and then there are the overheating issues .You've been warned. Not worth the extra money they charge just because it's 4k

If parking mode is important to you and you want a true buffered parking mode, your choices are Blackvue, blacksys, thinkware, Goluk & Garmin. There are not many out there. Most cams claim to have parking mode but it's not real parking mode. It's impact detection and will record when the g sensor is tripped.

Good to know. Guess I'll look into getting the 750. I just wanted to make sure license plates could be read when zoomed in on the video.
I've been a victim of a hit an run with a previous vehicle while parked.

Out of curiosity what back up battery did you go with for your set up?

I looked at getting the https://owlcam.com/ however I did not want to spend that kind of money. This seemed to be a descent parking security system. it sends to the cloud so if they steal the camera you still have a copy of the theft.

I went with the hardwire kit. The power magic ez that plugs into the obd port, literally plug and play. I have mine set up to constantly record so hardwiring was my best option.

The battery backup ibhave is the Anypower T Plus. I don't think they sell it anymore. I've been using it for 2yrs now and it's still going good. You can also use a power magic pro and set it for 12.2V. Other choice would be the neo or the b112.

That's an excellent setup to have. I have a Blackvue dual channel setup I've been using for 2yrs now and has stood the test of heat here in San Antonio. No problems.

I just ordered the viofo a129 duo. Anyone have a good way to mount the rear camera in a crewmax? Thinking of making a bracket to attach to headliner.

Total noob here with dash cams and have a few questions. I have had my 17' Tundra since June and have already had 2 people ding my door in parking lots, even though I have parked at the far corner... no idea wtf is up here... Here are my questions and thanks for this thread!
    1. Are there any 360 degree units or side view units to catch door dings?
    2. Any waterproof units that could be mounted in the grille? Any pros or cons here?
    3. Has anyone dropped in a small AUX battery and connected it to the alternator or a trickle charger to not drain the main battery?

    Thanks for the help!

My installation was in a double cab, but it has the sliding center rear window. The installer used a heavy piece of black plastic and bent it to attach behind the headliner and drop down to hold the camera. I'm not sure what adhesive was used to attach the plastic to the roof, but it's stable so far.

I read a bit up on these and seem to have answered my own questions.
    1. Short answer is no
    2. Short answer is the cons outweigh the pros
    3. Easily done with a solenoid to isolate the main battery, but overall cost is a bit spendy.

Follow up. Has anyone used multicamera recorders or integrated the cameras into your main head unit instead of getting an external unit?

    Questions for the experts.

Installed the viofo a129 duo today, running off USB for now but I ran the wires for their hardwire kit.

Just wondering what the best fuses to tap for acc, and constant power for parking mode are? Haven’t tested the fuses yet, but I’m assuming “p/outlet no.2” would be good for acc, thinking that fuse is for the cigarette lighters. And “dome” would be good for constant power for parking mode?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On a side note, took the “a pillar” off to run the cables, and the command start antenna cable (I had the dealership install command start) was wrapped around the side curtain airbag! Unreal!
I fixed it but they will get an earful next time I go down there for something!

I been shopping for a dash cam for over a year now. Finally got two! One for me and one for the Ms. we got the Thinkware Q800Pro. very happy with it. I hardwired it to my Tundras mirror power so didn’t even have to run wires. If I want parking mode I need to run wires down for always on power.

To those using a rear dash cam: did you have enough cable length for the rear dash cam? I'm about to pull the trigger on a dual dash cam that comes with a 20ft cable for the rear camera, and I''m concerned the cable may not be long enough to reach the rear window in my crew cab if I tuck the cable while routing.

My blackvue came with a 20ft cable for the rear cam and I had more than enough. I went through the passenger side, though. Not sure about going around the driver side.

I had the Aukey dual dash cam and I lined the cable through the driver side. It was more than enough.

Wondering if you went with dual or single camera setup ? How are you liking this camera?

Do you recall how you did the hardwire to the factory mirror and could you link the connectors you purchased?

I got the single channel. Been happy w it so far. No regrets. If you want the best license plate recognition you should get their newer one which can do 2k @ 60fps. Mine is only 30fps so it could get blurry when driving fast.

I think acc power was blue. You should get a test light to verify as different trims May have different colors. I used positap the blue one. Amazon should have them.

Don't the mirrors have 2 power wires, one ignition switched and the other not? Non-switched is for GDOs, other for everything else. No?

Go 'Stros! If you watch my video on post #111, you can run the cable that way. Don't forget to buy the MotivX pry tool.

Let us know how the install goes as well as the camera quality. Are you Crewmax?

I had an Anker 1080p front cam for a day, it was NOT clear when driving. I'd suggest trying out the front using the USB or 12v adapter before hardwiring or even stringing up the rear cam.

This is the one I'm still eyeing

I believe there is constant 12+ power at the mirror. I’m sure you can find it with a test light. If you want to be safe you should run it to the fuse box and use an add a fuse. That’s the correct way to do it so you don’t overload any existing circuits.
