I'd still rather deal with this minor issue than own an outdated turd.

Envy is a terrible thing. Buy a 2024 and that should fix you right up. Maybe.

i’ve been on this thread for multiple years now.. this ain’t no special cult for only 2022+ Toyota Tundras. it’s a public platform so deal with it and quit assuming that everything you don’t like is a “troll” XD.

2024 is still too soon to get ahold of one. 2 years is genuinely not long enough for a whole ground up redesign to have all it’s major flaws worked out lol.

I agree, I was gonna wait for a '24 but I'm getting up in age, not waiting any longer, so I pulled the trigger 2 weeks ago on a '23, Toyota will fix it right. These are the times we live in, very complex, there is many items that may have issues, we'll work through them, at the end it is a great truck!

Talked to Toyota customer service today (the 888 number). They said some dealers are choosing to not perform the temporary fix even though it's available now. They are just waiting for the permanent fix. They will call me back Monday and hopefully can give me info on a "local" dealer that is doing the temp fix. Maybe even just an inspection would be good enough too.

This is really useful. I didn't think of calling the 888 number on the notice, but maybe it's worth it if I can get some more information to my dealer about the temp fix (if Toyota will allow that to clear the stop sale, I'll ask customer service about that as well). I'm sure they would like to clear the vehicle off the lot and get the payment, and I'm not too concerned about having the temp fix and then going back for the permanent.

    Thanks for that update!!

My June 20, 2023 build isn’t showing this recall notice on the app. I’ll try to crawl under it tomorrow and get a pic of the area, if I can get my big mitts up there.

OK, it took a few attempts, but I think I got a pic of the same area on my June 2023 build with no recall notice on this fuel leak problem.

It appears their fix was to add a protective sleeve to one of the lines that I don't see on the previous pics.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks! I really appreciate this. Going to share with my sales guy and service manager, I wonder if something like this will be the temporary fix for the recalls or the permanent fix. I got the impression permanent will be a new line from the documents but I'm sure that's still up in the air.

As I see it, Toyota was clearly aware of the problem when they built my truck in June. I can’t imagine they would build it with a temporary fix, only to have to recall it later. My guess is this is the permanent fix, but Toyota is dragging their feet because it will require dropping the fuel tank to add the sleeve, which is going to be labor intensive.

Seems odd to me they covered the metal brake line and not the plastic fuel tube. Now the plastic fuel tube can still rub on that sleeve which might not be as harsh as metal, but still. Sleeve should go on the plastic line. Methinks Toyota needs some new engineers.

ROFL! nahhh i am absolutely content with what i have right now. no need to obtain something that is too new with random problems showing up out of the blue.

If they are dropping the tank I wonder how much it would cost to get the larger tank installed?

That was my first thought too. Then I considered that brake fluid can get hot, and even boil, in extreme situations. Perhaps the sleeve serves more as a heat shield than a rubbing shield? Who knows. I’m just happy my truck has some kind of fix, so I don’t have to waste another day at the dealership.

If I can figure out where to put my cell phone to get the picture of mine, I'll contribute. It was produced 7/20/23.

From the driver's side of the fuel tank, look for a square shaped raised flap in the heat shield about 18" forward of the rear axle. The area in question is right behind that flap. I reached up and over the exhaust and driveshaft. I used my phone on video mode set to 0.5 magnification, and kinda just waived it all around while recording. Then I captured a screen shot from that.

Any update when either fix in place? I'm stuck behind a no-sale.
What is Toyota history on recalls like this?
Do lot vehicles get the temp or held for the final?

I'm in the same boat as you, stuck trying to get a truck that I've been waiting for. From my dealer, service manager has nothing at the moment from Toyota. His feel is they will get something for the stop sale vehicles potentially before the mass communication owners, but he also doesn't feel like Toyota is necessarily rushing anything out. I tried calling brand engagement and didn't get any information outside of what was in the recall notice itself. There may be some more information floating around out there but if there is I haven't found it yet and we are all just kind of waiting for information. Service manager and sales seem to think that the temporary fix will be all that needs to be put on before releasing for sale.

Congrats on joining one of the 'lucky' 600 that got hosed with the stop sale....

Huh, I called Toy customer care, she said it was just over 1000. But does not matter as it's only one I'm concerned with -

hmm ... anyone hear anything on progress to release the no-sale? Really hard to believe inventory would be held for a month. Some financial person's head must be ready to pop.

My truck was held up over a month for the digital cluster stop sale. It's probably going to take awhile considering they don't have the permanent fix ready.

Given that new builds supposedly have a fix in place, I can’t imagine it would take long. The only good thing is now my dealership has 3 on the lot for folks to stare at. They rarely have even 1.

I feel bad for those that got stuck in that stop sale group.

The mood at my dealership has certainly shifted from optimistic to hedging about my stop sale. Though they also know I'm firmly landed on the hook so maybe they just stopped caring about trying to give me good news. At this point I've just come to terms with the fact I won't drive off for another 2 or 3 weeks at the earliest.
