I probably will, too. But what a PITA. But I guess less of a PITA than having the cats stolen.

@Eurodriver did a little digging he found that the airbag he was talking about was actually not installed on any tundras after 2006 so we're all good! He actually really did us a solid bringing that up

Headlight recall? I haven't seen or heard of this one yet.

Thanks for the heads up on the spare tire chain. I will keep an eye out for that one.

I believe he means the fuel line issue. Many of us would like to see that so we can maybe make a temporary fix until the remedy is ready... without going to the dealer now. IOW where is this part of the fuel line located and how do we get access?

@ToyotaManager , can you tell me if the Sequoia Spare Tire Access Cover plate will fit the Tundra? Been looking for something that will cover the hole.

Interesting that he says he knows the interim fix when the notice says that won't be available until October. I bet it would be pretty simple to make a decent DIY interim fix if we knew where this tube comes into contact with the brake line and can access it. But judging from a post above it might be difficult to reach? Where to find this and how to access it are the million dollar questions.

I took my truck in this morning to fix the piece of plastic on the seat that's broken (same piece as everyone else), complain about the fact that my alignment was so poor that I had to buy a new set of tires at 15,000 miles, ask about the recall, ask about a warning light that went off this weekend (power steering pump), get an oil change and a (well deserved) free car wash.

Regarding the recall, I told them I drive around with my 18 month old daughter and spontaneously catching on fire would be bad for her. They agreed. They said they would give me a loaner, a Rav4. I said my kids rear facing car seat wasn't going to fit, so they offered to rent me a car at Enterprise until October. I said ok, expecting to hear a catch. No catch, just a free rental car until October. And they said they'd be willing to drive my truck back to my house. I thought this was great, if I'm driving her around I'll take the rental and if I need the truck I'll use it...hopefully no stop, drop & roll.

They called back 2 hours later and told me that they were no longer allowing me to keep the truck at my house. Instead, they're going to hold on to it until it's fixed OR I could pay for the rental. So, now the dealer has my truck for a couple of months and I'm driving a Mazda CX9 until Toyota figures out how to fix this.

During its absence, check your Toyota app occasionally to make sure your Tundra isn't getting some side action.

I called my local dealer (Peterson Boise) about the fuel filler recall. They didn't know about it at first, but did find it when I gave them the recall number. OK, it's quite new recall so I'll give them a pass on that. But they clearly said they don't know what to do for the temp fix and don't have any instructions from Toyota, so can do NOTHING for me on this. I asked if I could bring it in for an inspection, to which they basically said they would not look at it because without Toyota instructions they don't know what to look for.

For those who have had the dealer perform some form of temp fix, can you give us more detail? thanks.

Here we go again. Toyota issues a recall without providing sufficient information that would allow an owner... or even a dealer... to evaluate the issue and risk. Just like the tonneau cover. So, in ~3 weeks we are to go on a vacation with about 2000 miles of driving and I don't have any idea how likely my tonneau cover is to blow off the truck uncovering and maybe losing some of our gear or what I might be able to do prevent that. And please don't say LocTite. I also don't know how likely the whole truck might be to catch fire and burn up on an interstate highway somewhere in west bumfuck. But maybe that would be the best outcome. Then I could go buy something more reliable. I am so tired of this stuff after 6 months of ownership.

Now I am sure a lot of you will chime in that "Toyota will make it right eventually". That may be fine if you are just sitting around the house and daily driving. But "eventually" doesn't work when you have plans and need to go places. Good lord.

We hear of all kind of engine problems, has their been a single documented case of where a 2022+ has actually caught fire?

Toyota made this recall for a reason. But again, they never say if there has been a fire or not... So, you have to wonder... and from one report above this location is not visible by casual observation. If that is correct someone probably at least had a leak there. The recall notice said you might smell gas first... and hopefully catch it before it lights off. But catching it in time would be less likely on a road trip where you are driving 1000 miles straight through.

Except it's not just that. Safety sense, dash functionality/information, apple car play etc among countless other things are responsible for the distinction.

But you're correct - the frames are the same.

isnt the process of sending out official letters to affected people to give toyota time to create a remedy to the situation?

isnt the process of id the issue, create a remedy, send out official notifications to affected vehicles, then schedule a fix date?

edit: decided to go look up the info on the process, in a nutshell ...

When will the no sale be lifted? Hard to believe they would contain new vehicles until end September.

FYI, according to the Toyota app, my June 20, 2023 build date 1794 is not included in the fire risk recall, so far.....

Is it TRD? In some cases TRD vs non-TRD makes a difference. For what it's worth, my Nov 2022 build 1794 TRD is included.

I'm going to call the dealer again today and talk to the Customer Relations Manager. There has to be some assistance (ie a loaner truck) for those of us who really need a truck. We are going travel trailer camping in Sept and not having a truck destroys that vacation. Plus, doesn't Toyota give the dealers $55/day credit for any loaner/rental for this case?

The recall posted shows non-hybrid mid March 2022 through early June 2023 builds. Sounds to me like Toyota did a design changer and/or supplier change when production was ramping up in earlier 2022 and then discovered this problem probably shortly before Jun 2023. Just a wild guess.

Mine is non-TRD 1794. Still no recall notice on the Toyota app for my truck.

Just speculation here, but I'm wondering if the fuel line rubbing against the brake line is a function of the longer suspension travel of the TRDs? I rebuilt my old Jeep CJ with taller springs that had more suspension travel. I learned the hard way that brake lines need to have a lot of slack on a wheeling rig.

That is only because Toyota doesn't release enough information for us to make a risk assessment. All we can do is guess. My guess is that there have not been any fires and someone somewhere probably smelled gas, then they took it to a dealer who traced the source. You would think that if this were a serious imminent fire risk we'd have gotten a do not drive order. But again, this is just a guess and all we can do is read between the tea leaves.

I'm trying to buy a 2022 right now but the dealership (not Toyota) won't sell it to me because of the fuel tube recall. They say they have to hold it for me until the temporary fix is available in October. Is there any way around this? The notice posted above says customers can take delivery of a used vehicle as long as they're aware of the recall...
