I have a 2018 tundra, can someone help me answer this question. I recently bought 285/65/18's. But my strongst wheel is shanking when I reach 50mph. Do I need an alignment, or did they not balance my tires when they put them on. What should I check first?

Imbalance, out-of-round tire, lug-centric wheel when you should have hub-centric, (not sure if you have aftermarket wheels) or if it’s only for the first few miles of a trip, it can be the joys of a stiff 10ply rated tire on a lighter truck, especially in cold weather.

The only way it could be alignment is if the tires are cupped / worn unevenly and then causing a shimmy.

It's very likely a bad tire that is heavy in one area and CAN NOT be balanced to specification. It will take too much weight, clearly visible, to balance the tire. Tire tech likely has instructions to pass it on, the tire dealer hoping it won't be immediately noticeable to you. If it's not the tire, then you have a bad wheel. Take it back to them.

Balance and/or defective tire. Take it back. It should work well up front right where it is. I would mark the rim so that you can tell if they move it. If they are able to improve it but cannot rebalance the tire perfectly, it’s a defective tire. It could also be a bad rim... but less likely. Mine came marked at the factory (red dot) to correspond with recommended mounting orientation on the rim.

I get an alignment every time I change tires. That being said your issue sounds a lot like what the general consensus says - balance/lemon tire. Did they do a road force balance?
