I just Plasti-dipped mine and then sprayed several coats of rust-oleum matte clear enamel. Super easy and cost was under $15.00. Still have plenty left over so next on the “to do” list is the Toyota emblems on the wheel lug covers/surrounds.

Ha...I did all those things too, right down to the wheel lug emblem but have since replaced my wheels.

I also did the steering wheel emblem. Just tape off a tight square, spray (careful of overspray) and then remove excess by lifting edge with a toothpick.

    Excellent!

I haven’t done the wheel hub logos yet, I just saw it on a YouTube video and really hadn’t even given it a thought before seeing the video.

I mean seriously how simple is it to pop out the emblems, 2 little tabs and just a gentle push, the emblems fall right out. So I’ll be dipping/clear coating them next nice weather day I get.

Going to do the steering wheel one too. Although I did purchase the steering wheel black plastic overlay on eBay for like $15. Which I’ll dip Gray/coat matte clear enamel and I’m going to probably do the vent ring overlays I purchased from Tufskinz

I got the “Cement” air vent overlays which appear to be Top Notch but since I’ve been dipping Everything Gray I’ll probably spray and coat them at the same time. Still on the fence tho……the Cement color does look nice but the gray will give it a little more punch I’m thinking. Plus go along with the center console area.

Might do the shift handle too!

Ya and the best part is no cutting/drilling/chopping up the console. Some folks have accidentally drilled right thru while attempting to break the melted plastic tabs.

Oh, and it’s fairly simple to bring back to stock if I ever wanted to do a different look/color/material.

Yes. Super easy to remove. Open the center console and you can pull out the entire piece after unscrewing the shifter handle. Numerous “how to” YouTube videos to watch on removing the console. Highly recommend watching one prior

The Shift Gate and Cupholder pieces come out easily, but the other piece has plastic/melted welds which I did NOT want to cut/drill apart so I prepped and taped/masked it off as well as the shift gate.

First I sprayed several coats of black Plasti-dip, I only have a limited amount of Anthracite Gray, so once dry and black I sprayed a couple coats of gray. Again after letting all the pieces dry (15-20 minutes) I then sprayed several coats of matte clear enamel to really harden the dip. The enamel IMO is stronger/tougher than just dip alone.

Did my door handles at the the same time.

Dipped my 4 Tufskinz Vent Ring Overlays, 4 Wheel hub Toyota emblems, and the Steering Wheel Emblem Overlay with the Gray dip. Did several coats of Black first then a 3-4 coats of Gray.

Letting them cure overnight and tomorrow I’ll give them all several coats of clear matte enamel. Probably let them cure overnight one more time. Then prior to installing them I might even give them a couple ceramic coats.

Have to say I’m very happy with the Tufskinz Vent Ring Overlays. Quality is awesome and the fit looks to be perfect. No issues in my opinion. Dipped them all Gray and gave everything several spray ceramic coats.

I just prefer the OE smooth look of the overlays. Different strokes for different folks as they say.

You can take it apart. Cut off the tabs that hold it in and reapply

some people paint it still on. Either mask off the area or peel off the access after or a mix of both

Bought the overlay on eBay for something like $13.50
I didn’t like the black plasticky look so I Plasti-dipped it gray. Then sprayed several coats of rust oleum matte clear enamel over it and the vent rings.

The larger Toyota logo is the steering wheel and the other 4 are the ones on the wheel hubs

I just completed the cup holder/shifter trim install on my 2014 Platinum. I hate to say but I am less than impressed for the price… My shifter trim arrived with several scratches and for $60 it feels like soft/cheap plastic. I haven’t noticed any other platinums in this thread so maybe that is the only trim in which the holes on the shift trim do not match to where you need to drill new holes in the tabs on the trim piece. I only had existing plastic to drill and attach 2 of 4 screws to the plastic on the trim piece, the other two were free floating and had nowhere to attach... I made due and had 5 minute epoxy on hand otherwise it would not have been a snug fit whatsoever. The existing tabs on the cup holder also did not fit snug when I popped it on so I epoxy’d the tabs as well to get it to hold firmly. It looks nice completed but I would not go back and do it again. 2/5 stars at best. Save the money and paint/plastidip for a much better experience.

I’ve used plastidip for external emblems and it worked great, but for interior parts that at removed, is there an advantage over simply paint? Seems like plastidip would tend to gouge and paint might be more durable.

@reywcms yours looks great. Where did you get the TRD shift knob and leather surround? Looks awesome and would be much easier to detail than stock. Interested! Also did your screws all have tabs to drill into? I can't be the only one whom it didn't line up for?

    Too many mods to come

That's the exact reason I added the leather boot! The knob is a trd pro knob and the leather boot is fromhttps://www.redlinegoods.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoOvWr-Sz_gIVhwGtBh3avQ9fEAAYASAAEgJXTPD_BwE. Yea my AJT mounting wasn't ideal as mentioned so I added zip to certain areas that didn't fit well. Not a big deal since it's not seen anyway.

Finally got around to installing the AJT climate control knobs and rings. It was a pretty easy install and it looks way better than the OEM knobs.
