Look at post #46 for the silicone boots, I bought blue ones but they are the same. The plastic piece between the boots is the Toyota part (roughly $50) but I didn't feel comfortable making my own and it was easy to use, post #36. Then all you need is the 15/32 hose, see link for product to find at local auto store. I did replace my band clamps with ones from Homedepot but that was personal preference.

@Shanet421 What 15/32ID hose did you use? I see your hose is prebent and looks pretty clean! I believe that hose is called the PCV hose?

Intake tube hoses are common can be sourced all over. Summit racing, Amazon, hps etc

Yeah i found a few online which ill resort to but the one that @Shanet421 posted has those two 90° bends that make it look pretty clean!

also @reywcms, i know you have a supercharger but do you think its worth doing the SABM in a stock 5.7?

This is the the part number from Toyota but it’s costly!

    PTR03-00140-AE

I have since changed up the look a bit with shaving off the resonator and using the stock tube with this PCV hose still.

Thanks for the part numbe @Shanet421. It indeed is costly haha. Whyd you opt to chop off the resonator and use the factory tube?

Side question; Does anyone know if the TRD Intake Air Tube Part Number: PTR03-00140-AC is made of plastic? I would assume it is? Would it be worth wrapping that in heat tape?

Yes it is a ridged plastic. I ended up having a problem where that piece cracked under the pressure of the hose clamps and I also failed visual smog inspection here in Cali

No because it wasn’t OEM and didn’t have a CARB compliant sticker. Kind of a godsend cause when removed is when I noticed the crack.

@Hobbesdsm how did you attach the brass fittings to the pipe? is there a nut on the threaded side of the brass fittings?

They definitely don’t make them but you could? Or try one of these? I don’t want to have to stand there with some underpaid tech and explain things so just easy to swap on/off

How much of a difference in sound did you notice with the helmholtz chamber removed while using the stock tubes?

This is the route I went, pretty sure yours was less than $330.00.

I would say it’s almost identical to what I had before with the silicone tubes. The corrugated or accordion type tubing doesn’t seems to slow down the flow.

It was a fun little experiment also.IMG_9508.jpg

Has anyone use one of these cheap intake system? Just for the piping. Skip everything else. Pipe to factory airbox.

You still need the boots on either end of it. If you just want the piping, the straight piece for the TRD intake is only like 50 during the sales so you'd save money buying the OEM part.

I figured the couplers from that kit would work? Have to trim down the pipe though and plug up the maf sensor's hole. Probably not worth it. The trd boots on either side of the pipe is red, would've been sweet if it was black.. I'll keep brainstorming and decide later..

You just asked about the tube, so I was just saying if you are only after the tube the TRD would save you money. If you buy the TRD tube, it doesn't come with boots so you source those yourself. Can get them off Amazon.

That kit doesn't look bad. I think I was in for 100 between the TRD tube and blue boots.

I think i will get the trd tube and look for thr black boots. I gotta go and and read the thread again to see what boots fit correctly. I can get the trd boot that goes to the throttle body and the engine cover will cover the red. I don't know. Look like i got 2 days left for the 25% off on keating toyota website.
